Why the Web Console log matters

Using the Web Console button is very important and useful when you customise or mod your server. If your server is not working or not starting properly, the Web Console log reports the error that might be causing it in the last lines.

  • Read from the bottom up. The last lines show where the startup stopped.
  • Look for words like error, failed, missing or exception. They usually name the file, mod or setting that is causing the problem.
  • Changed something just before it broke? Undo that change first, then start the server again and check the log once more.

To read your server's log files, see How to view your server logs. Before you add mods, make a backup so you can go back if the server stops starting.
