Update your 7 Days to Die dedicated server to a newer version, or downgrade it to an older one, by swapping the server files in the Mod Manager of the GTX game panel. It takes a few clicks.

Take a full backup of your server files before you switch versions. A world generated on a different version may not be fully compatible, and some mods only work with certain versions. See How to backup your game server.

How to update or change your 7 Days to Die server version

  1. Stop the server with the STOP button and navigate to the Mod Manager.
  2. Find the version of the server that is installed and click the Uninstall button to uninstall it.
  3. Now find the version of the server you'd like to install and click the Install button.
  4. If required, make any changes to serverconfig.xml in the Configuration Files. Different versions can have different settings, so check them after switching.
  5. Start the server with the START button.

Changing the 7 Days to Die server version in the GTX game panel: uninstall the old server files and install another version in the Mod Manager, then check serverconfig.xml

First start: wait for the map to generate

The first start can take up to 1 hour for the map to be fully generated. Don't stop the server or the map will be corrupted and you'd need to start the generation again.

  • Follow the progress by clicking the Web Console button.
  • Whilst the world is generating you can ignore the messages [GSM] GameSparks Connected.
  • Once the world is generated the server will say GameServer.LogOn successful. Once it says this, the server is online.
  • Check the Activity and Stats button for more information and to see if your server is querying.
