Conan Exiles server settings explained: what every option in the in-game Server Settings menu and ServerSettings.ini does, from PvP, XP and day/night to survival, combat, harvesting and region access.

These settings work the same on Conan Exiles Enhanced (Unreal Engine 5) and on the Legacy (UE4) version. You can change them in two places: the server settings menu, opened from the main menu in the game while you are logged in as admin, or in your game panel under Configuration Files.

Conan Exiles server settings explained: how to change them

In the game: log in to your server as admin, then open the server settings menu from the main menu. Changes made there are saved by the server.

In the game panel:

  1. Open your server in the game panel and press STOP.
  2. Open Configuration Files and edit ServerSettings.ini with the Config Editor or the Text Editor.
  3. Change the settings you want. The setting names in the file are shown in code below.
  4. Save the file and press START.

Always stop the server before you edit ServerSettings.ini. A running server writes its own settings back to the file and can overwrite your changes.

Multipliers use 1.0 as the normal value. 2.0 doubles it, 0.5 halves it.

General

  • Server Password (ServerPassword): the password players need to join. Change it here.
  • Admin Password (AdminPassword): this password gives administration rights.
  • Battleye enabled (IsBattlEyeEnabled): turns on BattlEye cheat protection. Funcom highly recommends this to stop cheaters affecting your gameplay.
  • PvP Enabled (PVPEnabled): when this is ticked, Player vs Player is enabled on the server.
  • Community (ServerCommunity): the community you pick from the drop-down list changes how your server is filtered in the server list. Set it up responsibly so players can find a server that matches their playstyle. Values: 0 None, 1 Purist, 2 Relaxed, 3 Hard Core, 4 Role Playing, 5 Experimental.
  • Server Region (serverRegion): the region you select changes how your server is filtered in the list. Pick your region to help players find a server close to them. Values: 0 Europe, 1 North America, 2 Asia, 3 Australia, 4 South America, 5 Japan.
  • No Ownership (NoOwnership): when ticked, ownership rules don't exist on the server. All players can loot all chests, use all machines, dismantle all buildings and so on.
  • Can Damage player owned structures (CanDamagePlayerOwnedStructures): when ticked, players can attack and destroy other players' structures.
  • Enable Sandstorm (EnableSandStorm): when ticked, sandstorms sweep across the Exiled Lands from time to time.
  • Clan Max Size (clanMaxSize): the maximum size of a clan on the server. Once a clan reaches the limit, no new members can join.
  • Maximum Nudity (MaxNudity): the most nudity allowed on the server (0 none, 1 partial, 2 full). This overrides the player's own setting: on a no-nudity server, a player with full nudity turned on still sees none. If the server allows full nudity and a player picks partial, they correctly see partial.

Progression

  • Player XP Rate Multiplier (PlayerXPRateMultiplier): multiplies every type of XP players receive. Use it to speed up progression in all activities.
  • Player XP Time Multiplier (PlayerXPTimeMultiplier): in Conan Exiles players get XP passively over time, just for surviving. This multiplies how fast that XP comes in.
  • Player XP Kill Multiplier (PlayerXPKillMultiplier): multiplies the XP players get for killing monsters and players.
  • Player XP Harvest Multiplier (PlayerXPHarvestMultiplier): multiplies the XP players get for harvesting.
  • Player XP Craft Multiplier (PlayerXPCraftMultiplier): multiplies the XP players get for crafting.

Day / night cycle

  • Day Cycle Speed (DayCycleSpeedScale): multiplies the speed of the whole 24-hour day. You can tweak each part of the day with the settings below. This multiplier is applied on top of those settings.
  • Day Time Speed (DayTimeSpeedScale): daytime in Conan Exiles runs from 7:00 to 16:59 in-game time. This multiplies the time spent between those hours.
  • Night Time Speed (NightTimeSpeedScale): night runs from 19:00 to 4:59 in-game time. This multiplies the time spent between those hours.
  • Dawn/Dusk Time Speed (DawnDuskSpeedScale): dawn runs from 5:00 to 6:59 and dusk from 17:00 to 18:59. This multiplies the time spent in both.
  • Catch Up Time (UseClientCatchUpTime, ClientCatchUpTime): for a smooth start, Conan Exiles can make a new player's game start at a set time of day, whatever the server time. New characters start at that time and play at it until the server catches up with them. We recommend not picking the darkest hours of the night, unless you're feeling sadistic.

Survival

  • Player Health Multiplier: directly multiplies player health.
  • Player Health Regen Speed Scale: directly multiplies how fast players regenerate health.
  • Player Stamina Multiplier: directly multiplies player stamina.
  • Stamina Cost Multiplier (StaminaCostMultiplier): raises or lowers the stamina players use per action.

  • Player Active Hunger Multiplier (PlayerActiveHungerMultiplier): scales how fast a player gains or loses food.
  • Logged out characters remain in world (LogoutCharactersRemainInTheWorld): when ticked, offline players' bodies stay in the world, unconscious. When unticked, their bodies leave the world while they are offline.
  • Drop Equipment on Death (DropEquipmentOnDeath): when ticked, players who are killed lose their equipment when they respawn. When unticked, they respawn with all their equipment.

  • Everybody can loot corpse (EverybodyCanLootCorpse): when ticked, anyone can loot a dead player's corpse. When unticked, only that player can recover items from it.
  • Combat Player Damage multiplier (PlayerDamageMultiplier): multiplies the damage a player does.

  • NPC Health Multiplier: multiplies the health of all NPCs.
  • NPC Respawn Multiplier (NPCRespawnMultiplier): multiplies how fast NPCs respawn in the world after dying.
  • Durability Damage Multiplier (DurabilityMultiplier): changes how much durability an item loses when used or damaged. This directly affects how long weapons, tools and armour last.

Chat

  • Chat Local Radius (ChatLocalRadius): how far local chat reaches around a player.
  • Max Message Length (ChatMaxMessageLength): the maximum number of characters in a chat message.

Region control access

These settings use an IP lookup to find the country a player connects from and block regions that aren't ticked for access. You can also add country codes by hand, using the two-letter codes from this list: ISO 3166-1 alpha-2. Separate country codes with a space in the input field.

Make sure your own region and your players' regions are allowed, or they can't connect or see the server.

Questions

Where are the Conan Exiles server settings stored?

In ServerSettings.ini. In the GTX game panel, open Configuration Files and edit ServerSettings.ini. Stop the server first, then start it again after saving.

What does Item Spoil Rate Scale do in Conan Exiles?

Item Spoil Rate Scale (ItemSpoilRateScale in ServerSettings.ini) changes how long food lasts before it spoils. Change it in the in-game server settings menu or in ServerSettings.ini with the server stopped.

Do these settings work on Conan Exiles Enhanced?

Yes. Conan Exiles Enhanced (the free Unreal Engine 5 update from May 2026) uses the same ServerSettings.ini, and most settings carry over from the UE4 version unchanged.

How do I change my Conan Exiles server region?

Stop the server, edit ServerSettings.ini and set serverRegion to 0 Europe, 1 North America, 2 Asia, 3 Australia, 4 South America or 5 Japan, then start the server. Full steps: How to set your server region on Conan Exiles Enhanced.

My setting changes keep resetting. Why?

The file was edited while the server was running, so the server saved its old values over yours. Press STOP, make the change again, save, then press START. Still stuck? Open a ticket and our team will help.
