Change your Valheim server version in a few clicks: pick it from the Server version dropdown in Service Settings, then run a Steam Update. Older versions and newer public test betas are all supported.
You can run any available version on your Valheim dedicated game server: an older version, or a newer public test (beta) version. We support them all.
WARNING! Be aware that worlds generated on newer versions of the game will not work on older versions of the game. Also be aware that some mods might not work on different server versions.
Going back to an older version? Make a backup of your world first.
Change your Valheim server version
- Stop your server.
- Press the Service Settings button.
- Select the version you want from the Server version dropdown.
- Press Execute to save.
- Press the Steam Update button and let the update finish.
- Start your server.

How do I check my Valheim server version?
Press Service Settings in the game panel: the Server version dropdown shows the version your server is set to. After changing it, press Steam Update so the server files match.
Can I move my world back to an older Valheim version?
Not always. Worlds generated on newer versions of the game will not work on older versions. Keep a backup from before the change, so you can restore it if needed.
Will my mods work after I change the server version?
Some mods might not work on different server versions. Check each mod's page for the Valheim version it supports before you switch. See How to add mods to your Valheim server.
