PBO Manager lets you unpack your Arma mission file (.pbo), edit it and pack it again. Download the mission from the mpmissions folder, extract it, make your changes, repack and upload it.
This works for every Arma server type we host, such as Arma 3 Vanilla, Exile, Epoch, Altis Life, A3Wasteland, servers with a Headless Client and Arma 2 DayZ Epoch.
Make sure you always make backups of your original files before editing. Keep a copy of the original .pbo on your PC, so you can upload it again if something goes wrong.
How to edit your mission file with PBO Manager
- Download PBO Manager from its official GitHub releases page and install it on your Windows PC.
- Download your mission file from the
mpmissionsfolder to your PC. You can use the File Manager in the game panel or SFTP: see How to connect to your server via SFTP / FTP. - Extract the mission file using PBO Manager to make your changes.
- Once you have finished making changes, re-pack the folder into a
.pbofile, then upload it back to the server.
Stop your server before you upload the edited mission file, and give it the same file name as the original so your server config still loads it. Then start the server and check that it loads.

What is PBO Manager?
PBO Manager is a free Windows tool to open, pack and unpack Arma PBO files. Arma missions, such as the one in your server's mpmissions folder, are packed as .pbo files, so you need it to edit them.
Where do I download PBO Manager?
From its official GitHub releases page: github.com/winseros/pboman3/releases. Download the installer and run it. It needs the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2015-2019 to run.
How do I create a pbo file again after editing?
Re-pack the extracted folder with PBO Manager, for example with its Windows Explorer context menu option to pack a folder as PBO. Then upload the new .pbo to the mpmissions folder on your server.
