Download your game server's backups to your own computer with the Backup Manager in the GTX game panel. Handy before a big change, when you move a world to single-player, or just to keep a safe copy of your server offline.

How to download a backup

  1. Log in to the game panel and open your server.
  2. Press Backup Manager.
  3. Log in to the Backup Manager with its own password (see below).
  4. Pick the dated backup you want and download it to your computer.

The Backup Manager password is not your game panel password. You'll find it on the Backup Manager button itself or, on some games, under Server Details.

Want a backup of the server as it is right now?

Make a fresh one first, then download it:

  1. Press STOP and wait until the server has fully stopped.
  2. Press Backup Server and wait for it to finish.
  3. Press START, then download the new backup from the Backup Manager.

Backup questions

There's no Backup Manager button on my server. What now?

A few games don't support the Backup Manager. You can still copy your save folder to your computer over SFTP (see How to connect via SFTP), or open a ticket and we'll send you a download link for a backup.

How long are backups kept?

We normally keep backups for up to 6 months. Automatic backups are stored offsite and run alongside your server's restarts, so keep a daily restart scheduled (see automatic restarts).

How do I put a backup back on my server?

To roll back to one of the server's stored backups, stop the server and use Restore Server: see How to restore your server from a backup. To put back files you downloaded, stop the server and upload them over SFTP into the same folders.

Can I back up my server automatically?

Yes. Add a backup task in Scheduled Tasks: see How to set up automatic server backups.
