Conan Exiles server not starting or stuck in a boot loop? First give it enough time to boot, then roll back the database with Rollback Server. Here are the causes and fixes, step by step.
A server that won't start or keeps restarting can have different causes. Use these checks if your server crashed and isn't coming back online, or if it stopped starting after an update.
Conan Exiles server not starting: wait long enough first
Some Conan Exiles servers take 3 to 10 minutes to fully boot, depending on how big your database already is. Mods add to that time. Open the Web Console in the game panel to watch the server start up before you try anything else.
Don't press RESTART while the server is still loading. Every restart starts the boot from the beginning.
Fix a corrupted database with Rollback Server
If your server still isn't online after waiting the recommended time, the database may be corrupted. Roll it back to an earlier copy:
- Press STOP to stop your server.
- Press the Rollback Server button.
- Choose a previous backup to roll back to, from 1 to 100: 1 is the most recent backup and 100 the oldest one.
- Press START, wait for the server to come online and test it.
If the first rollback didn't bring your server back online, try rolling back to different database numbers.
A rollback replaces your current world with the older copy. Anything built or gained after that backup is lost. Start with 1 and only go further back if you need to.
Not starting after an update?
- Check your mods. After a game update, outdated mods are the most common reason a server won't start. Many UE4 mods don't work on Conan Exiles Enhanced (UE5). Read the Log Viewer to see which mod fails, then remove or update it. See How to update your Conan Exiles server to UE5.
