How to install mods on your Palworld dedicated game server Print

In this guide, you will learn how to install the UE4SS mod loader on your server, download some mods from NexusMods, and install the mods on your server and on your computer, we are going to cover two different methods, one method using our automatic Curse Mods installer, and the other method, installing the mods manually from any source of mods besides the Curse Mods website, please follow the instructions and video guides below for the desired method.

BEFORE START - MUST READ GUIDELINES

On Palworld, some mods are server-side only (they only need to be installed on the server), other mods are client-side only (they only need to be installed on the computer), and others need to be installed on both, the server and computer. To understand if a mod is client-side/server-side or both, always read the mod description and instructions on the NexusMod website or any other website you download.

Always be very careful when modding your server, some mods stop working when Palworld updates and your server will not work correctly until the mod dev updates it, in some cases mods are abandoned and don't update anymore, and in other cases, they can corrupt player profiles or world saves.

INSTALLING MODS USING THE CURSE MODS INSTALLER

For this guide, we are going to use 2 mods, Pal Info which is a client-side mod, a mod that you don't install on the server, it is for players only, and the Remove flying stamina cost mod which is a server-server mod and requires UE4SS Mod Loader to work, in the guide below you going to show you how to identify if a mod it's a client-side mod only, a mod that's not meant to be installed on the server, and how to identify a mod that requires the UE4SS Mod Loader and install it before installing the mod.

1. Stop your server
2. Go to the Curse Mods button
3. Search the mod you want and click the More Information button
   • It's here that you going to identify if a mod is not meant to be installed on the server, or if requires UE4SS Mod Loader, always read the description carefully, and search for Requirements and Multiplayer sections, what's the instructions to use the mod correctly.
4. If a mod requires UE4SS, go to the Mod Manager button and install UE4SS from the Mod Loader section
5. Go back to the Curse Mods button and install the mod
6. Start your server

INSTALLING MODS MANUALLY FROM ANY SOURCE

For this guide, we are going to use 2 mods, Carry weight increase which is a server-side mod and the MapUlocker mod which is a client-side mod, but we going to install it on the server also to make it easier to install the mods on your computer bit later on this guide, but always read the description and instructions of the mod, some mods could not work if installed on both, before installing any mods, be aware of how those mods work and what's required to make them work or your server can break.

1. INSTALL THE UE4SS MOD LOADER ON YOUR SERVER

1. Stop your server
2. Go to the Mod Manager button and install UE4SS from the Mod Loader section
3. Move to the Next Section

2. DOWNLOAD AND PREPARE THE MODS ON YOUR COMPUTER

1. Go to NexusMods website and find the mods you want to install, for this guide, we are going to use 2 mods, Carry weight increase which is a server-side mod and the MapUlocker
2. Download the mods you want to your computer (Read the description and installation instructions to be aware of how those mods work and what's required to make them work or your server can break)
3. Go to the folder you downloaded the mods and extract them
4. Move to the next Section

3. UPLOAD THE MODS FROM YOUR COMPUTER TO YOUR SERVER

1. On your server game panel, go to the File Manager button and open the folder \Pal\Binaries\Win64\Mods\ folder
2. Click the Upload button then choose the Select Folder option
3. Find the mods you extracted on the section before (Do not upload the unzipped folder, always upload just the mod folder, as shown in the video below)
4. Move to the next Section

4. DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE MODS ON YOUR COMPUTER

In this section, we going to describe how to install automatically UE4SS and all mods from your server directly on your computer, but if you prefer, you can install UE4SS and all the mods individually manually following the UE4SS and respective mods instructions.

1. On your game panel click on the Download UE4SS ModPack button
2. Go to File Manager and download the Download-UE4SS-ModPack.exe file
3. Install it on your computer in the folder you have Palworld installed, usually on C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Palworld\ (It can show you a Windows Defender warning, you can accept it, it's perfectly safe!)
