Set up automatic server messages with the Server Messages plugin: install it from Mod Manager, write your messages and times in messages.cfg, and your players see them in game at the times you choose.
How to set up server messages with the Server Messages plugin
- Stop your server: press STOP in the game panel.
- Install Server Messages* from Mod Manager, under the tools section.
- Go to Configuration Files and edit the
messages.cfgfile with the Configuration Editor (Config Editor) or Text Editor option. - Change your messages and adjust the times to your needs (see the guidelines below).
- Start your server: press START.
* Some games already have Server Messages installed by default, so you can skip step 2.
Guidelines for your messages
When adding messages you need to care about these guidelines, or your messages may not show:
- Every new message starts on a new line.
- Scheduled Tasks are in 12h format and Messages in 24h format.
- Messages show on server time, not on your local time. Check the machine local time on the Server Details button and adjust your profile timezone (My Profile in the left menu of the control panel).
- Use
no-loopto show a message only once, orloop-2to repeat the message every 2 hours, for example. - Separate the time, the message and the loop type with the tilde (
~) character. This means you may not use the tilde character in your messages. - You can't have white spaces at the end of the messages or empty white lines: the messages will not show.
- Use the example below if you need to reset your messages.
Example messages.cfg
Each line is time~message~loop type:
14:00:00~This message will not repeat, will show at 2PM~no-loop
18:30:00~This message will repeat every 2 hours, will show at 6:30PM~loop-2
20:45:00~This message will repeat every 3 hours, will show at 8:45PM~loop-3
22:50:00~This message will repeat every 4 hours, will show at 10:50PM~loop-4Copy the example, then change the times and the text. Make sure the last line has no trailing space and there is no empty line after it.

Why are my server messages not showing?
Check three things in messages.cfg: no white spaces at the end of a message, no empty lines, and no extra tilde (~) inside the message text. Also remember messages use server time in 24h format, so a message may show at a different hour from your local clock.
How do I repeat a message every few hours?
End the line with loop- plus the number of hours, for example loop-3 to repeat every 3 hours. Use no-loop for a message that shows only once.
Can I find Server Messages in Mod Manager for every game?
Some games already have Server Messages installed by default, so there is nothing to install. If you can't find it and messages.cfg is not in your Configuration Files, open a support ticket and our team will check your server.
