Turn on the DayZ whitelist so only the players you add can join: enable the whitelist option in Config.cfg, add each player's character id to whitelist.txt and restart.

Enable the DayZ whitelist

  1. Stop your server.
  2. Enable the Whitelist option inside Config.cfg (Configuration Files). In the text version of the file this is the line enableWhitelist = 1; (0 is off).
  3. Edit whitelist.txt and add the player character id, one per line.
  4. Start your server.

Find a player's character id

You can find a player's character id inside the server RPT logs. When a new player joins and gets kicked because they aren't on the whitelist yet, check the RPT log or the Web Console for their ID, then add it to whitelist.txt.

Add yourself and your admins first, before you enable the whitelist, so you don't lock yourselves out.

Whitelist questions

How do I turn on the DayZ whitelist?

Stop the server, enable the whitelist option in Config.cfg (enableWhitelist = 1;), add each allowed player's character id to whitelist.txt, one per line, and start the server.

Where do I find a player's ID for the whitelist?

Ask the player to join. When they are kicked, their character id shows in the server RPT log and in the Web Console. Copy it into whitelist.txt.
