Wreckfest 2 Server Hosting: Tracks, Mods & Settings
Your server runs the official Wreckfest 2 or Wreckfest dedicated server from Bugbear. Pick the tracks and events, set the rules for every race and derby, add Steam Workshop mods on Wreckfest, and decide who races and who runs it.
Wreckfest 2 plays the events in its .becl event loop file, named by "event loop name" in server_config.scnf; a Wreckfest server plays the el_add lines of server_config.cfg in order.
Your RotationBanger races on circuits with intersections and oncoming traffic, waypoint races, and demolition derbies in the arenas, with the laps, damage and countdown settings in your hands.
Your EventsFill the empty places on the grid with AI drivers so a race night is full even before everyone has joined; on Wreckfest 2 they share the 24 places with your players.
Full GridOn Wreckfest, install community tracks, cars and skins from the Workshop with the panel's Steam Workshop button; type tracks in the Web Console to list the track names.
WreckfestLock the server with a password in its config file and give admin rights by SteamID64: role STEAM64ID,admin in the Wreckfest 2 console, admin_steam_ids in server_config.cfg on Wreckfest.
Private or PublicWreckfest 2 keeps report limits and censor, silence and suspend ban durations in server_config.scnf, so a public server polices itself while you race.
Your RulesAlready running a Wreckfest 2 or Wreckfest server with another host? Copy your config files and event rotation over SFTP or the File Manager, and our 24/7 team can help with the move or handle it for you. Want both games? Order a Wreckfest 2 server and a classic Wreckfest server and run them side by side from the same client area; the Switch Game tool in the panel can also move one server between games.
How Many Slots Does My Wreckfest 2 Server Need?
A slot is a place on the grid. Wreckfest 2 servers come with the full 24-slot grid, which players and bots share. On a classic Wreckfest server you pay per slot for the human players you want on the grid at the same time, from 8 to 24, and every plan includes up to 5GB of RAM.
| Slots | Best for | From |
|---|---|---|
| 8 slots Wreckfest | A small group of mates on banger nights | CA$4.24/mo |
| 12 slots Wreckfest | Half a grid for a club or Discord group | CA$6.36/mo |
| 16 slots Wreckfest | League nights with room for guests | CA$8.48/mo |
| 20 slots Wreckfest | Busy public servers | CA$10.60/mo |
| 24 slots Wreckfest | A full grid, the most the game allows | CA$12.72/mo |
| 24 slots Wreckfest 2Recommended | The full Wreckfest 2 grid, players and bots | CA$17.61/mo |
The Wreckfest order form lets you pick any slot count from 8 to 24. On memory, our own 24 slot Wreckfest 2 demo server peaked at about 950MB of RAM after starting a Waypoint Race on Crash Canyon with bots on the grid and nobody online. A full grid, bigger modded tracks and more bots use more. Watch live memory use in the control panel and add memory from 8GB to 32GB at any time from your client area.

+The Complete Guide to Wreckfest 2 Server Hosting in Canada & Worldwide
Everything you need to know before you rent a Wreckfest 2 server in Canada or any of GTX Gaming's worldwide datacentres, from joining and server settings to tracks, event rotations, Steam Workshop mods, admins, slots, pricing and locations, for Wreckfest 2 and the original Wreckfest alike.
What Is Wreckfest 2 Server Hosting?
Wreckfest 2 server hosting is a managed service that runs a Wreckfest 2 dedicated server on professional hardware in a datacentre, around the clock, so your club can race banger nights, your Discord can run derby evenings and your league can hold its rounds whether or not you are at your PC. The same service, and the same control panel, hosts the original Wreckfest from 2018, which is still raced on dedicated servers with Steam Workshop mods. Every GTX Gaming server includes up to 5GB of RAM, up to 100GB of NVMe storage, daily automatic backups, enterprise DDoS protection and a web control panel, so jobs like changing the event rotation, setting a password or adding an admin take a few clicks.
People look for it as a Wreckfest 2 dedicated server, a Wreckfest 2 private server, a Wreckfest 2 game server or simply a Wreckfest server, and they all mean the same thing: your own always-on Wreckfest 2 server or Wreckfest server, with your tracks, your rules and your grid.
What Are Wreckfest and Wreckfest 2?
Wreckfest 2 is the full-contact racing game from Bugbear, the Finnish studio behind FlatOut and the original Wreckfest, published by THQ Nordic. It launched into Steam Early Access on 20 March 2025 with its physics engine rebuilt for modern hardware: higher crash fidelity, finer component damage and the signature Wreckfest handling, with racing and derby events for up to 24 players and bots.
- Still growing: Bugbear ships numbered content updates during Early Access, most recently Content Update #8 on 30 June 2026 with new cars, new waypoint routes and new modes, followed by patches in July 2026. More tracks, cars, modes, a revamped career and mod support through the Steam Workshop are on the Early Access roadmap, according to the game's Steam page.
- Online from day one: multiplayer racing and derby with bot support, server passwords, a server browser and the dedicated server tool that our panel runs.
- The original Wreckfest: released on 14 June 2018, with demolition derbies, banger races, soft-body damage and a Steam Workshop full of community tracks and cars. Bugbear's PC crossplay update of March 2024 lets Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG players race in the same lobbies.
- PC servers: both dedicated servers run on Windows, and players need their own copy of the game on PC to join.
Why Rent Your Own Wreckfest Server?
Public servers run someone else's rotation and someone else's rules. With your own server you decide the tracks, the event types, the damage, the bots and who races. Most clubs and leagues rent rather than host at home, for reasons that show up by the first race night:
- Always online: the server runs 24 hours a day, so players in every time zone can jump on whenever they like.
- Nothing to run at home: no SteamCMD installs, no ports to open on your router and no PC left running all night.
- Room for a full grid: Wreckfest 2 servers come with the full 24-slot grid, and a classic Wreckfest server can be sized at any slot count from 8 to 24.
- Proper hardware: high-frequency CPUs and NVMe storage in a datacentre, with DDoS protection at the network edge.
- Backups and support: daily automatic backups and a 24/7 support team mean a broken setting or a crashing mod is an inconvenience, not the end of your server.
Getting Started & Joining Your Wreckfest Server
Your server is set up the moment you order. From there, getting your players onto the grid typically looks like this:
- Order: choose Wreckfest 2 or a Wreckfest slot count, pick your location, and your server is set up instantly.
- Name it: open your config file in Configuration Files, server_config.scnf on Wreckfest 2 or server_config.cfg on Wreckfest, and set your server name and, if you want a private server, a password.
- Pick the events: set your event rotation, the .becl event loop on Wreckfest 2 or the el_add lines on Wreckfest, then restart.
- Join: start the game, open the multiplayer server browser, find your server by name and join.
Your control panel shows your server's connection address and SFTP details. Players need their own copy of the matching game on PC. If your server does not appear in the browser, check that it is running, or ask our 24/7 team.
Server Settings: server_config.cfg & server_config.scnf
Your server's settings live in one config file, editable through Configuration Files in the control panel with a Text Editor and, on Wreckfest 2, a Config Editor for the common settings:
- server_config.scnf (Wreckfest 2): a JSON file with a net server config block for the server name, description, password, log file name and game port, and a game server config block for the cup list, the event loop name, the countdown and voting times, flags such as leader enabled, and the report limits and censor, silence and suspend ban durations that police a public server.
- server_privilege.sprv (Wreckfest 2): the roles file, filled from the console with role STEAM64ID,admin.
- server_config.cfg (Wreckfest): the classic settings file from Bugbear's dedicated server guide: server name and welcome message, password, player slots, the admin_steam_ids line, the el_add event lines of your rotation and the log setting.
Change a setting, save the file and restart the server for it to take effect. Event settings on Wreckfest 2 are changed with console commands; type help in the Web Console to list them. Keep a backup before big changes, so you can always go back.
Tracks, Events & Game Modes
Both games race on circuits with intersections and oncoming traffic, on crazy courses with jumps and obstacles, and in derby arenas where the last car moving wins; Wreckfest 2 adds waypoint races and keeps adding tracks, cars and modes with every content update. What your server plays is its rotation:
- Wreckfest 2: the rotation is a .becl event loop file, named by event loop name in server_config.scnf (default_loop when your server is installed). Our demo server started straight into a Waypoint Race on Crash Canyon with a grid of bots.
- Wreckfest: list your events as el_add lines in server_config.cfg, one per track and event type, in the order you want them played; Steam Workshop tracks go in by name, and the tracks command in the Web Console lists every name your server knows.
- Event settings: laps, damage, countdown and grid size are server settings; on Wreckfest 2 they are changed from the console, where help lists the commands.
Steam Workshop Mods on Wreckfest
The original Wreckfest has a Steam Workshop full of community tracks, cars and skins, and our panel installs them for you: stop the server, press the Steam Workshop button, choose the mods you want and press Install, then start the server again. Modded tracks then go into your event rotation by name; type tracks in the Web Console to list every track name your server knows, including the modded ones. Your players must subscribe to the same mods on Steam and enable them in the game's Mods menu, or they get an Invalid Different Client Data error when joining, as our help guide explains.
Wreckfest 2 does not have mod support yet: Bugbear lists Steam Workshop mod support as a feature to be added during Early Access. Until it lands, a Wreckfest 2 server runs the game's own tracks and cars, which keep growing with every content update.
Admins, Passwords & Console Commands
Running a community server means keeping order. Both games give you the tools for it, all reachable from the control panel:
- Password: set a password in your config file to keep the server private for your club or league.
- Admins: on Wreckfest 2, type role STEAM64ID,admin in the Web Console for every admin; the panel keeps the roles in server_privilege.sprv. On Wreckfest, add each SteamID64 to the admin_steam_ids line of server_config.cfg and restart.
- Console commands: the Web Console is your server's command line. On Wreckfest 2, help lists the commands, including status and the event settings; on Wreckfest, tracks lists the track names for your rotation.
- Bans and reports: Wreckfest 2 keeps report limits and censor, silence and suspend durations in server_config.scnf, so repeat offenders are handled by the server itself.
Keep the admin role and the server password to yourself and never share them in public.
Game Updates & Versions
Bugbear is still building Wreckfest 2 in Early Access: numbered content updates land every few weeks, most recently Content Update #8 on 30 June 2026 with new cars, new waypoint routes and new modes, followed by patches on 3 and 10 July 2026 that improved multiplayer collisions. The original Wreckfest is finished and stable; its last update was the PC crossplay update of March 2024. When a patch lands, the Steam Update button in your control panel brings your server up to date, and the Log Viewer and Web Console show you the result. Keep your server on the same version as your players: a Wreckfest 2 content update usually needs a server update the same day.
How Much Does Wreckfest 2 Server Hosting Cost in Canada?
Pricing is simple. A Wreckfest 2 server is one price for the full grid, and a classic Wreckfest server is priced per slot, with up to 5GB of RAM and up to 100GB of NVMe storage included on every server:
- Wreckfest 2, 24 slots: CA$17.61/mo. The full grid for players and bots.
- Wreckfest, 8 slots: from CA$4.24/mo. A small group of mates on banger nights.
- Wreckfest, 12 slots: from CA$6.36/mo. Half a grid for a club or Discord group.
- Wreckfest, 16 slots: from CA$8.48/mo. League nights with room for guests.
- Wreckfest, 20 slots: from CA$10.60/mo. Busy public servers.
- Wreckfest, 24 slots: from CA$12.72/mo. A full grid, the most the game allows.
Any Wreckfest slot count in between can be picked on the order form. All plans include instant setup, DDoS protection, daily automatic backups and 24/7 support, with no setup fee and no contract. Billing is monthly by default, with three-month, six-month and yearly cycles available at a discount, and you can change plan or cancel at any time.
How Many Slots and How Much RAM Does a Wreckfest 2 Server Need?
A slot is a place on the grid. Wreckfest 2 servers come with the full 24-slot grid, which human players and bots share: fewer bots leaves more room for people. On a classic Wreckfest server you choose a slot for every human player who will be on the grid at the same time, from 8 for a small group of mates to 24 for a full grid, the most a Wreckfest event allows. On memory, our own 24 slot Wreckfest 2 demo server peaked at about 950MB of RAM after starting a Waypoint Race on Crash Canyon with bots on the grid and nobody online. A full grid, bigger modded tracks and more bots use more. The up to 5GB included with every server is the place to start, the control panel shows live memory use, and you can add memory from 8GB to 32GB at any time.
Locations for Wreckfest 2 Server Hosting
