Thank you Mr. Gibbs

Absolutely loved the friendliness and the quick response time. Even though I felt a little dumb for not realizing the problem myself, it felt twice as good to know that the fix was simple and clear.

FAQ

Eco Server Hosting FAQ

Getting Started

How fast is Eco server setup?

+
Instantly. Your Eco server is activated as soon as payment completes, and your control panel login and connection details arrive within seconds. Add your SLG Server Authentication Token in the Commandline Manager, set your server name and password, start the server, and your players can find it in the Eco server browser.

What is Eco server hosting?

+
Eco server hosting is a rented, always-online dedicated server for Eco, the civilization and ecosystem survival game from Strange Loop Games. GTX Gaming runs your Eco world in a datacenter 24 hours a day with DDoS protection, backups and a control panel, so your community can build, trade, pass laws and stop the meteor whenever they like, under your own rules.

Do I need an SLG Server Authentication Token?

+
Yes. Since Eco Update 11, every Eco server needs a Server Authentication Token from Strange Loop Games to start correctly. Log in at play.eco with the account that owns Eco, generate a token under Server Authentication, paste it into the Token field in the Commandline Manager of your control panel, press Apply and start your server. Treat the token like a password and never post it in public chats.

How do I join my Eco server?

+
Start Eco, open the server browser and search for your server's name. Enter the password if you set one. Your control panel shows your server's address and game port. If your server does not show up, check that it is running and that its token is added, or ask our 24/7 support team.

Can I play Eco on Xbox or PlayStation?

+
No. Eco is a PC game: on Steam it runs on Windows, and there is no Xbox or PlayStation version. Your players join your Eco server from their PCs with their own copy of Eco.
Server & Sizing

How many players can join my Eco server?

+
As many as the slots you order, from 10 to 500. Pick a slot for every player who will be online at the same time: 10 slots suits a group of friends, 50 slots a growing community, and 100 slots or more a public server with a busy economy. You can change your slot count at any time from your client area.

How much RAM does an Eco server need?

+
Start with the up to 5GB of RAM included with every server and watch it as your world grows. Bigger worlds, more players and more buildings use more, so busy servers need more. The control panel shows live memory use, and you can add memory from 8GB to 32GB at any time from your client area.

How much does Eco server hosting cost in the USA?

+
Eco server hosting at GTX Gaming starts at $10.13/mo for 10 slots, $11.39/mo for 50 slots and $12.66/mo for 100 slots, with up to 5GB of RAM and up to 100GB of NVMe storage included. All plans include instant setup, DDoS protection, daily backups and 24/7 support, with no setup fee and no contract.

Which locations can I host an Eco server in?

+
19 locations worldwide: New York, Ashburn, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles and Portland in the USA; Quebec in Canada; London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Stockholm and Madrid in Europe; Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore and Mumbai in Asia-Pacific; plus Moscow. Some locations carry a surcharge, shown at checkout. Run the ping test on this page to find your lowest-latency location, then pick it during checkout.
World, Meteor & Mods

Can I change when the meteor hits?

+
Yes. MeteorImpactInDays in Difficulty.eco sets how many days your world has before the meteor strikes, 30 by default. To play without a meteor at all, set CreateMeteor to false in Disasters.eco. Stop the server, edit the file through Configuration Files, save it and start the server again. The meteor timer is best set before your world starts.

Can I change the difficulty and collaboration level?

+
Yes. Difficulty.eco holds the CollaborationLevel, which decides how much players depend on each other's skills, plus multipliers for skill costs, crafting time and resources, stack sizes, carry weight and plant growth. Civics.eco sets how elections work. Edit them through Configuration Files with the Config Editor or the Text Editor, then restart.

Can I install mods on my Eco server?

+
Yes. Eco mods are shared on mod.io. Stop your server, upload the mod to the Mods folder with the File Manager or SFTP, extract it if it is a zip file and start the server again. Read the mod's page first to check which Eco version it supports. Our help guide walks you through it step by step.

Can I move my existing Eco world to GTX Gaming?

+
Yes. Stop your new server, upload your world's Storage folder and your Configs with the File Manager or SFTP, add your SLG Server Authentication Token in the Commandline Manager and start the server. Our 24/7 support team can help with the move or handle it for you.

Can I upgrade my Eco server later?

+
Yes. Change your slots, add memory from 8GB to 32GB, more storage, CPU priority or a clock boost at any time from your client area, without losing your world.
The Complete Guide

The Complete Guide to Eco Server Hosting in the USA & Worldwide

Everything you need to know before you rent an Eco server in the USA or any of GTX Gaming's worldwide datacenters, from the SLG token and joining to server settings, the meteor, world size and difficulty, admins, mods from mod.io, slots, pricing and locations.

What Is Eco Server Hosting?

Eco server hosting is a managed service that runs an Eco dedicated server on professional hardware in a datacenter, around the clock, so your community can keep building, trading and voting whether or not you are at your PC. Every GTX Gaming Eco server includes up to 5GB of RAM, up to 100GB of NVMe storage, daily automatic backups, enterprise DDoS protection and a web control panel, so jobs like adding your token, changing the meteor timer or installing a mod take a few clicks.

People look for it as an Eco dedicated server, an Eco private server, an Eco game server or Eco server rental, and some still search for it under its older name, Eco Global Survival. They all mean the same thing: your own always-on Eco server, with your world, your laws and your rules.

What Is Eco?

Eco is an online world from Strange Loop Games, in Early Access on Steam since 6 February 2018. A meteor is set to strike the planet in thirty days, and your community has to build the technology to stop it without destroying the ecosystem that feeds you along the way.

  • A living ecosystem: every plant and animal is part of a simulation, so clear-cutting a forest or polluting a river has knock-on effects across the planet.
  • Laws and government: players draft laws, run for election, set taxes and choose anything from a tightly regulated state to a community that runs on trust. The game enforces the laws that pass.
  • A player-run economy: specialise in a profession, build stores, post contracts for work, and even create your own currencies.
  • Still in development: Strange Loop Games keeps updating Eco, most recently with Update 14 (Garbage & Recycling, Pollution) in August 2026 and Update 14.1 in September 2026.

Why Rent Your Own Eco Server?

Eco is designed for players who log in at different times and contribute to the same world. That only works if the world is always there. Most communities rent rather than host at home, for reasons that show up within the first week:

  • Always online: the server runs 24 hours a day, so stores, contracts and crafting queues keep working for players in every time zone.
  • Nothing to run at home: no ports to open on your router and no PC left running all night.
  • Room for everyone: from 10 slots for a group of friends to 500 for a whole civilization.
  • Proper hardware: high-frequency CPUs and NVMe storage in a datacenter, with DDoS protection at the network edge.
  • Backups and support: daily automatic backups and a 24/7 support team mean a bad law or a bad update is an inconvenience, not the end of your world.

Getting Started & Joining Your Eco Server

Your server is set up the moment you order. From there, getting your players onto your planet typically looks like this:

  • Order: choose your slots and your location, and your server is set up instantly.
  • Add your token: paste your SLG Server Authentication Token into the Commandline Manager (see the next section).
  • Name it: set Name, DetailedDescription and, for a private world, Password in Network.eco through Configuration Files.
  • Make it yours: add yourself to Admins in Users.eco, pick your meteor timer and collaboration level, then start the server.
  • Join: start Eco, open the server browser, search for your server's name and join.

Your control panel shows your server's address and its game, web, RCON and SFTP details. If your server does not appear in the list, check that it is running, that its token is added and that the name you search for matches, or ask our 24/7 team.

The SLG Server Authentication Token

Since Eco Update 11, every Eco server signs in with a Server Authentication Token from Strange Loop Games, and without one it does not start correctly. You need an account at play.eco that owns Eco, and linking your Steam account to it makes this easier:

  • Generate it: log in at play.eco, open the Server Authentication section of your account and generate a token.
  • Add it: stop your server, open the Commandline Manager in your control panel, paste the token into the Token field, press Apply and start the server.
  • Keep it secret: treat the token like a password. Anyone who has it can sign in as your server, so never post it in Discord or other public chats.

Our help guide on the SLG Server Authentication Token walks you through each step with pictures.

Network.eco: Server Name, Password & Listing

Eco keeps its server settings in .eco files in the Configs folder, and you edit them through Configuration Files in the control panel, with a Config Editor for quick changes and a Text Editor for everything else. Network.eco is where you start:

  • Name and DetailedDescription: what players see in the server browser.
  • ServerCategory: the category your server is listed under, such as Beginner.
  • Password: set one for a private world.
  • PublicServer: whether your server shows up in the public server list.
  • DiscordAddress: a link to your community's Discord.

Stop the server before you edit a config file, save it, then start the server again for the change to take effect. Keep a backup before big changes, so you can always go back.

The Meteor, Difficulty & Collaboration

The settings that shape how your world plays live in Difficulty.eco and Disasters.eco:

  • MeteorImpactInDays: how many days until the meteor strikes, 30 by default. Give your community more time, or less.
  • CreateMeteor: in Disasters.eco, set to false for a world with no meteor at all.
  • CollaborationLevel: how much players depend on each other, from groups who can do a bit of everything to a world where every profession matters.
  • SkillCostMultiplier, CraftTimeMultiplier and CraftResourceMultiplier: how quickly players level up and how long and how much crafting takes.
  • GrowthRateMultiplier, StackSizeMultiplier and WeightMultiplier: how fast plants grow, how much fits in a stack and how much players can carry.

Big changes like the meteor timer and the collaboration level are best set before your world starts, so check them first on a new server.

Admins, Elections & the Web UI

Running a community means keeping order and letting players govern themselves:

  • Admins: add each admin's user ID to Admins in Users.eco, then restart. Users.eco also holds the WhiteList for a private world, plus the BlackList and MuteList.
  • Elections: Civics.eco sets how long elections run, how many eligible voters must take part and whether players may overthrow a government (AllowOverthrow).
  • Web UI: Eco runs its own Web UI next to the game, with the map of your world. The Online Map button in your control panel opens it.
  • Restarts: use Scheduled Tasks in the control panel for restarts on a timer.

Mods from mod.io

Eco mods are shared on mod.io, and Strange Loop Games keeps extending the ModKit that modders build them with. To add one, stop your server, upload the mod to the Mods folder with the File Manager or SFTP, extract it if it is a zip file and start the server again. Read the mod's page first: it says which Eco version the mod supports and whether it needs extra steps. Take a backup before you install a mod, since mods can stop working after a game update until their makers catch up.

How Much Does Eco Server Hosting Cost in the USA?

Pricing is simple: you pay for the number of slots, with up to 5GB of RAM and up to 100GB of NVMe storage included on every server:

  • 10 slots: from $10.13/mo. A group of friends saving one planet.
  • 50 slots: from $11.39/mo. Communities with specialists, stores and laws.
  • 100 slots: from $12.66/mo. Public servers with a busy economy.
  • 200 slots: from $16.46/mo. Large communities.
  • 500 slots: from $27.87/mo. The biggest Eco world we offer.

Every tier in between is in the full plan list at the top of this page. All plans include instant setup, DDoS protection, daily automatic backups and 24/7 support, with no setup fee and no contract. Billing is monthly by default, with three-month, six-month and yearly cycles available at a discount, and you can change plan or cancel at any time.

How Many Slots and How Much RAM Does an Eco Server Need?

Choose a slot for every player who will be online at the same time. 10 slots suits a group of friends, 50 slots a community with a real economy, and 100 slots or more a public server. On memory, start with the up to 5GB of RAM included with every server and watch it as your world grows. Bigger worlds, more players and more buildings use more, so busy servers need more. The up to 5GB included with every server is the place to start, the control panel shows live memory use, and you can add memory from 8GB to 32GB at any time.

Locations for Eco Server Hosting

Eco is a game about working together, and nobody enjoys a laggy market stall, so host close to your players. GTX Gaming runs Eco server hosting from seven US locations, with New York preselected on this page and Ashburn, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles and Portland covering the rest of the country, plus 12 more locations worldwide: Quebec in Canada; London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Stockholm and Madrid in Europe; Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore and Mumbai in Asia-Pacific; plus Moscow. Some locations carry a surcharge, shown at checkout. Use the live ping test above to find the lowest-latency location for your community, pick it at checkout, and if you need to move later our support team can migrate your server.
