Beasts of Bermuda is an Unreal Engine game with large islands and a persistent ecosystem of player creatures, so memory grows with players and with the age of the save: on our own demo server a freshly installed server used about 1.7GB with nobody online. The picks above are our sizing advice, not figures from Sastrei Studios. Watch live memory use in the control panel and change your RAM at any time from your client area.

What Is Beasts of Bermuda Server Hosting?
Beasts of Bermuda server hosting is a managed service that runs the Beasts of Bermuda Dedicated Server on professional hardware in a datacentre, around the clock, so your island keeps living whether or not anyone is online. Every GTX Gaming Beasts of Bermuda server includes up to 5GB of RAM, up to 100GB of NVMe storage, daily automatic backups, enterprise DDoS protection and a web control panel with Configuration Files for Start.bat, Game.ini and the message of the day, a File Manager and SFTP for your save, a Web Console with RCON, and a Backup Manager.
People look for it as a Beasts of Bermuda dedicated server, a Beasts of Bermuda game server, a Beasts of Bermuda private server or simply a Beasts of Bermuda server to rent, and they all mean the same thing: a home for your own Beasts of Bermuda server, with your map, your game mode, your creature rules and only the players you invite.
What Is Beasts of Bermuda?
Beasts of Bermuda is a multiplayer survival game from Sastrei Studios in which you play as a dinosaur or another prehistoric creature and become part of a living, player-made ecosystem on the islands of Bermuda. It has been on Steam in Early Access since 21 December 2018, runs on Windows PCs, and is still growing: a public test in September 2026 added the Favor Store and a new playable creature, the Zupaysaurus.
- Play as the beast: more than fifteen playable creatures, from Tyrannosaurus, Acrocanthosaurus and Utahraptor to Parasaurolophus, Saichania, Pteranodon in the air and Mosasaurus, Kronosaurus and Elasmosaurus in the sea, each with its own abilities, diet and playstyle.
- Grow up or die trying: spawn as a juvenile and grow to monstrous size while managing hunger, thirst, comfort and stress, spending talents as you go.
- Weather that fights back: thunderstorms, hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, wildfires and shifting tides change the islands around you.
- Nests and bloodlines: start a nest with other players, hatch eggs, and pass skins, mutations and talents to your offspring.
- Three ways to play: Life Cycle, Free Roam and Combat, chosen per server, on maps such as Rival Shores, Ancestral Plains, Volcano Bay, Isla Titania and the arena map Caldera.
Why Rent a Beasts of Bermuda Server?
Anyone can run the Beasts of Bermuda Dedicated Server from their own PC, but most communities rent one instead, for reasons that show up the first time a hurricane hits while the host is asleep:
- Always online: your island runs 24 hours a day, so growth, nests and the ecosystem carry on and players on different schedules can log in whenever they like.
- Nothing to run at home: no port forwarding for the game, query and 8888 ports, and no PC left running; a dinosaur server is heavy, and your own PC stays free for playing.
- Listed and reachable: a GTX server has a public IP address and shows in the in-game server browser under its own name.
- Your rules: set the map, game mode, growth limit, creature limits, day length and autosave, and decide who gets which admin rank.
- Backups and support: daily automatic backups, the Backup Manager and a 24/7 support team mean a griefer, a bad save or a rough update is an inconvenience, not the end of your ecosystem.
Getting Started & Joining Your Beasts of Bermuda Server
Your server is set up the moment you order. From there, getting your friends onto the island typically looks like this:
- Order: choose your slots, memory and location, and your server is set up instantly.
- Name it: set your server name, map, game mode and, if you like, a password in Start.bat through Configuration Files.
- Make yourself admin: add your SteamID64 on a ServerAdmins line in Game.ini and restart.
- Greet your players: write your MessageOfTheDay.txt and put your Discord invite in Game.ini (see admins).
- Join: in Beasts of Bermuda, open the server browser, find your server by name, enter the password, pick a creature and spawn.
Your server's IP address and port are shown at the top of your control panel, ready to copy, with the SFTP, query and RCON details next to them. The Web Console shows the server log live, including saves and player joins.
Server Settings: Start.bat & Game.ini
Beasts of Bermuda's server settings live in two plain-text files, and on a GTX Gaming server you edit both in your browser through Configuration Files, with a Config Editor so you never have to remember a setting's exact spelling. Start.bat holds what the server is: its name, map, game mode and password. Game.ini holds how it plays:
- GrowthLimit: the growth cap on your server; anything past 2 is almost never reached, as growth slows sharply after 1.2.
- CreatureLimits: one line per playable species, from Acrocanthosaurus to Velociraptor, with the share of the server it may take up, its group limit and whether it needs veteran status; bUseHardGroupLimits turns the group limit into a hard cap instead of growing discomfort.
- DayLength, CarcassSpawnRatio and CarcassRateMultiplier: how long a day lasts and how many ambient carcasses spawn, the levers that make a server generous or harsh.
- AutosaveTime: how often the server writes its save to disk, in seconds, with a 30 second minimum.
- ServerAdmins, AdminRanks and AdminCommandRules: who your admins are, which ranks exist and which commands each rank may use.
- DiscordLink, SteamGroupName and bRequireSteamGroupToJoin: show your Discord in the in-game menu, name your Steam group, and if you like let only its members join.
- bDisableGlobalChat, bAllowSkinCustomization and bUsePrivateDinos: switch global chat off, allow or block custom skins, and keep characters private to your server.
Settings load when the server starts, so restart after a change, and keep the file free of stray spaces, as the official wiki warns. The server saves on the AutosaveTime timer, so set AutosaveTime to suit your community, run ForceSaveData from the admin console before a restart, and our daily backups and the Backup Manager cover the rest.
Maps & Game Modes: Life Cycle, Free Roam & Combat
The map and the game mode are the two choices that define a Beasts of Bermuda server, and both are set in Start.bat from the Config Editor in your control panel:
- Life Cycle: the standard mode. You spawn as a juvenile, grow fast, earn talents, and after 1.32 growth can enter the Gauntlet, where food, water and ailments get harder with every bit of growth. Monthly leaderboards rank the biggest of each species.
- Free Roam: the relaxed mode. Growth is slower but food and water are easier to manage, which suits roleplay and community servers that want long-lived creatures.
- Combat: everyone spawns as an adult and fights for talent points on small deathmatch maps, with kill and death ratios showing who rules the server. It is endless and pairs well with the arena map Caldera.
- Maps: the main islands are Rival Shores, Ancestral Plains, Volcano Bay and Isla Titania, with Caldera as the small arena map; each has its own tides, weather and biomes, and each keeps its own save on your server.
Change the map or mode in Start.bat, save and restart. The official dedicated server guide lists every argument and Game.ini key if you want the details.
Creature Limits, Growth & the Ecosystem
A Beasts of Bermuda server is an ecosystem, and Game.ini lets you shape it. Every playable species has a CreatureLimits line with three levers: the percentage of the server that species may fill, its group limit, and whether it is reserved for veterans. The demo server we photographed, for example, ships with Tyrannosaurus limited to groups of two while every other species may group freely.
- Balance the food chain: cap carnivore slots so herbivores and semi-aquatics have room, or open everything up for a free-for-all.
- Group limits: with bUseHardGroupLimits false the game applies growing discomfort to oversized groups; true makes the limit a hard cap.
- Growth and time: GrowthLimit caps how big anyone can get, DayLength sets how long a day lasts, and CarcassSpawnRatio and CarcassRateMultiplier decide how much ambient food spawns.
- Skins and characters: bAllowSkinCustomization allows or blocks custom skins, and bUsePrivateDinos keeps characters private to your server.
Admins, Ranks & the Admin Console
Beasts of Bermuda has one of the most flexible admin systems in the genre, and on a GTX Gaming server you manage it in Game.ini through Configuration Files:
- ServerAdmins: one line per admin with their SteamID64 and a rank name; the file ships with a DefaultAdmin rank, so adding yourself takes one line and a restart.
- AdminRanks: define as many ranks as you need, each with a level; a higher rank can do everything a lower one can. Use it to give moderators kick and mute powers without weather control or server data access.
- AdminCommandRules: one line per command type with the minimum rank that may use it: ServerMutePlayer, KickPlayer, BanPlayer, RespawnPlayer, ControlWeather, ClearCarcasses, ClearBones, ForceSaveData, FlushServerData, PossessEntity, UseObserver, GrowEntity, Teleport and Announce among them.
- bConsoleLocked: keep it true on a public server; false opens the admin console to everyone and is meant for testing only.
- ReservedAdminSlots: slots held back for admins so a moderator can always get on to a full server.
Admins use their commands from the in-game admin console once their SteamID64 is in Game.ini. The Web Console in your control panel shows the server log live, with bLiveMessagesToRCON in Game.ini mirroring in-game messages to RCON, and the panel's Scheduled Tasks can restart the server on a timer, for example nightly after an announcement.
Saves, Backups & Keeping Your Server Updated
Already playing with friends or with another host? A Beasts of Bermuda save lives in your server's Saved folder, next to the Game.ini and the map's save data. Stop the server, upload the folder through the File Manager or SFTP into the same place, keep the same map in Start.bat, and start the server again; your Game.ini settings come with it. Our support team can handle the whole move for you, from copying your files to checking the map loads.
Press Steam Update in your control panel and your server is brought up to the latest Beasts of Bermuda dedicated server build. Players must run the same game version as the server to join, so update when Sastrei Studios releases a patch; the game is in active development, with the Favor Store and the Zupaysaurus in public testing from 21 September 2026, so updates keep coming. Every GTX server has daily automatic backups, and the Backup Manager lets you take and restore your own at any time, which is worth doing before any update that touches your save.
How Much Does Beasts of Bermuda Server Hosting Cost in Canada?
You pay per player slot, from 8 to 64 slots at CA$0.80/mo each, plus any extra memory, with up to 5GB of RAM and up to 100GB of NVMe storage included on every server. Our three recommended builds are:
- Nest, 8 slots with 5GB RAM: CA$6.40/mo. You and your friends.
- Herd, 20 slots with 5GB RAM: CA$16.00/mo. Our recommended size for an active community with room to grow.
- Apex, 40 slots with 8GB RAM: CA$37.32/mo. Public servers and big roleplay communities.
Every slot count from 8 to 64 is available, see the full list under our plans or set your own on the order form. All plans include instant setup, full Start.bat and Game.ini control, DDoS protection, daily automatic backups and 24/7 support, with no setup fee and no contract. Billing is monthly by default, with three-month, six-month and yearly cycles available at a discount, and you can change plan or cancel at any time.
How Many Slots & How Much RAM Does a Beasts of Bermuda Server Need?
Choose a slot for every player who will be online at the same time, and remember that ReservedAdminSlots in Game.ini holds some of them back for admins. A group of friends is well served by 8 to 16 slots, an active community by 20 to 32, and public servers by 40 or more, up to 64. Memory is the other half. On our own demo server, a freshly installed Beasts of Bermuda server used about 1.7GB of RAM with nobody online, peaking at 2.2GB while it loaded. Players, nests and a save that has lived for months add to it, so as a guide the included 5GB covers up to 24 players, 8GB suits 32 or more, and 12GB a full 64 slot server with a long-running save. The control panel shows live memory and player graphs, so you can see exactly when your server needs more and upgrade, up to 32GB, without losing anything.
Locations for Beasts of Bermuda Server Hosting
A low ping makes every pounce, grab and dodge feel responsive, so host close to your players. GTX Gaming runs Beasts of Bermuda server hosting from a Canadian datacentre in Quebec plus 18 more locations worldwide: New York, Ashburn, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles and Portland in the USA; London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Stockholm and Madrid in Europe; Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore and Mumbai in Asia-Pacific; plus Moscow. Some locations carry a surcharge, shown at checkout. Use the live ping test above to find the lowest-latency location for your group, pick it at checkout, and if you need to move later our support team can migrate your server.
Best Beasts of Bermuda Server Hosting: What to Compare Before You Rent
Most offers to rent a Beasts of Bermuda server look alike at first glance. These are the things that decide how your server actually plays once your community moves in:
- Price per slot: dinosaur communities grow slowly and then all at once, so a fair per-slot price and free resizing matter. Every GTX Gaming slot costs the same, from 8 to 64, with 5GB of RAM included.
- Real config access: a good host gives you Start.bat and Game.ini in an editor, not a locked form. Ours does, with a Text Editor for anything the Config Editor does not cover.
- CPU: an Unreal Engine server with dozens of creatures, weather and tides leans on single-core speed. Our servers run on high-frequency CPUs, with CPU priority and clock boost available as upgrades.
- Location: ping decides how a fight feels. We run Beasts of Bermuda servers in 19 locations across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific (see Locations).
- Control and backups: full access to your files, a File Manager and SFTP for your save, and backups you can restore yourself. Every GTX Gaming server has daily automatic backups and the Backup Manager.
- Billing and refunds: monthly billing with no contract, no setup fee and a 24-hour money-back guarantee, so you can try a Beasts of Bermuda dedicated server without risk.
Not sure which size fits your group? Compare our builds under pricing, or ask our 24/7 support team to size your server with you.
