Put your friends' UIDs on the Server_Admins line, separated by semicolons, and they get every admin command. On memory, our own 20 slot Rising World demo server used about 520MB of RAM ten minutes after starting a fresh world with nobody online, peaking at about 900MB while it generated the world, so the up to 5GB included on every server leaves plenty of room for a new group. JIW Games suggests 1GB to 2GB for a small server and 4GB to 8GB for more players, and a world grows as more is built on it, so busy servers need more. Watch live memory use in the control panel and add memory from 8GB to 32GB at any time from your client area.

Thank you Mr. Gibbs

Absolutely loved the friendliness and the quick response time. Even though I felt a little dumb for not realizing the problem myself, it felt twice as good to know that the fix was simple and clear.

FAQ

Rising World Server Hosting FAQ

Getting Started

How fast is Rising World server setup?

+
Instantly. Your Rising World server is installed as soon as payment completes, and your control panel login and connection details arrive within seconds. Set your server name and password in server.properties under Configuration Files, press START, and your friends can find your server in the in-game server list.

What is Rising World server hosting?

+
Rising World server hosting is a rented, always-online dedicated server for Rising World, the voxel-based open-world sandbox from JIW Games. GTX Gaming runs your Rising World world in a datacentre 24 hours a day with DDoS protection, backups and a control panel, so your buildings, your farm and your blueprints are always there and your friends can join whenever they like, under your own rules.

How do I join my Rising World server?

+
Start Rising World, open Multiplayer and search the server list for the server name you set in server.properties, or connect directly with the address and port shown under Connection Info in your control panel. Enter the password if you set one. If your server does not show up, check that it is running in the panel, or ask our 24/7 support team.

Can I play Rising World on Xbox or PlayStation?

+
No. Rising World is a PC game for Windows, Mac and Linux on Steam, and there is no Xbox or PlayStation version. Your players join your Rising World server from their computers with their own copy of the game, and Windows, Mac and Linux players can share one server.
Server & Sizing

How many players can join my Rising World server?

+
As many as the slots you order, from 12 to 64 in steps of two. Pick a slot for every player who will be online at the same time: 12 slots suits a group of friends, 20 slots a building community, and 40 slots or more a public server. The Settings_MaxPlayers line in server.properties is set to match your slots, and you can change your slot count at any time from your client area.

How much RAM does a Rising World server need?

+
Our own 20 slot Rising World demo server used about 520MB of RAM ten minutes after starting a fresh world with nobody online, peaking at about 900MB while it generated the world, so the up to 5GB included on every server leaves plenty of room for a new group. JIW Games suggests 1GB to 2GB for a small server and 4GB to 8GB for more players, and a world grows as more is built on it, so busy servers need more. The control panel shows live memory use, and you can add memory from 8GB to 32GB at any time from your client area.

How much does Rising World server hosting cost in Canada?

+
Rising World server hosting at GTX Gaming starts at CA$10.66/mo for 12 slots, CA$17.79/mo for 20 slots and CA$35.58/mo for 40 slots, with up to 5GB of RAM and up to 100GB of NVMe storage included. All plans include instant setup, DDoS protection, daily backups and 24/7 support, with no setup fee and no contract.

Which locations can I host a Rising World server in?

+
19 locations worldwide: Quebec in Canada; New York, Ashburn, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles and Portland in the USA; London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Stockholm and Madrid in Europe; Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore and Mumbai in Asia-Pacific; plus Moscow. Some locations carry a surcharge, shown at checkout. Run the ping test on this page to find your lowest-latency location, then pick it during checkout.
Settings, Admin & Plugins

Can I change the settings on my Rising World server?

+
Yes. server.properties under Configuration Files holds everything: your server name, password and description, Settings_MaxPlayers, the World_Seed, World_Name and World_WorldType of your world, World_GameMode for Survival or Creative, Settings_PvP, Settings_PeacefulMode, the NPC spawn rates, the day length and the plant growth factor. Stop the server, edit the file in the browser, save and start it again: the server reads server.properties at startup. Once you are in the game as an admin, console commands such as time, weather and gamemode change the world on the spot.

How do I become an admin on my Rising World server?

+
Put your UID on the Server_Admins line of server.properties, with semicolons between several UIDs, save and restart, and you have every admin command in the game. For finer control Rising World uses permission groups: each group is a JSON file in the permissions folder, admin.json carries every right, such as kick, ban, restart and makeadmin, and spg PlayerName admin from the Web Console moves a player into it. Keep the admin list short: anyone on it can change your world.

Can I install plugins on my Rising World server?

+
Yes. Rising World has an official Plugin API, and plugins from the community forum go into the server's Plugins folder, one subfolder per plugin, uploaded with the File Manager or SFTP. Restart the server and the plugin loads. There is no Steam Workshop for Rising World; blueprints and plugins are shared on the official forum.

Does my Rising World server update when JIW Games patches the game?

+
Yes. JIW Games keeps shipping numbered updates, most recently 0.9.3 with animal feeding and taming in August 2026. The Steam Update button in your control panel brings your server up to date in one click, and Scheduled Tasks can run the update and a restart on a timer, with a warning to players first. JIW Games recommends restarting a Rising World server at least once every 24 hours, and Scheduled Tasks does that for you.

Can I move my existing Rising World world to GTX Gaming?

+
Yes. Stop your new server, upload your world folder from your PC with the File Manager or SFTP, set your server name in server.properties and start the server. Our 24/7 support team can help with the move or handle it for you.

Can I upgrade my Rising World server later?

+
Yes. Change your slots, add memory from 8GB to 32GB, more storage, CPU priority or a clock boost at any time from your client area, without losing your world.
The Complete Guide

The Complete Guide to Rising World Server Hosting in Canada & Worldwide

Everything you need to know before you rent a Rising World server in Canada or any of GTX Gaming's worldwide datacentres, from joining your server and setting up server.properties to Server_Admins and permission groups, console commands, plugins, updates, slots, RAM, pricing and locations.

What Is Rising World Server Hosting?

Rising World server hosting is a managed service that runs a Rising World dedicated server on professional hardware in a datacentre, around the clock, so your buildings, your farm and your animals are always there whether or not anyone is at their PC. Every GTX Gaming Rising World server includes up to 5GB of RAM, up to 100GB of NVMe storage, daily automatic backups, enterprise DDoS protection and a web control panel, so jobs like naming your server, making a friend an admin or scheduling a restart take a few clicks.

People look for it as a Rising World dedicated server, a Rising World private server, a Rising World game server or Rising World server rental. They all mean the same thing: your own always-on Rising World server, with your world, your builders and your rules.

What Is Rising World?

Rising World is a voxel-based open-world sandbox from JIW Games, a small German studio. Its procedurally generated world can be changed block by block: dig caves, level hills, raise a cabin or a castle from 200 or more building materials, farm, hunt, fish, tame animals and explore dungeons, alone or with friends. It arrived on Steam in Early Access on 3 December 2014, and the rebuilt version that replaced the original Java game left its beta branch in January 2025.

  • Build anything: blocks, beams, planks, glass and more, with blueprints that save a whole building so you can place it again or share it with the community.
  • Survive and farm: crafting, cooking, farming, fishing and, since the 0.9.2 and 0.9.3 updates, animal breeding, feeding and taming.
  • Explore: forests, mountains, deserts, caves, dungeons and the points of interest added in 0.9, with ocean waves and improved cave generation in 0.9.3.
  • Still updated: JIW Games ships numbered updates; 0.9.3 on 31 August 2026 added animal feeding and taming, better caves and ocean waves, and the free dedicated server and Plugin API grow with it.

Why Rent Your Own Rising World Server?

Rising World is a world you shape over months, and that only pays off if the world is always there. Most groups rent rather than host at home, for reasons that show up within the first week:

  • Always online: the server runs 24 hours a day, so friends in other time zones can log in when they like and nobody waits for the host.
  • Nothing to run at home: no ports 4255 and 4254 to open on your router and no PC left running all night with the server eating its RAM.
  • Room for everyone: from 12 slots for one group of friends to 64 for a public world with several projects on the go.
  • Proper hardware: high-frequency CPUs and NVMe storage in a datacentre, with DDoS protection at the network edge.
  • Backups and support: daily automatic backups and a 24/7 support team mean a bad plugin or a failed update is an inconvenience, not the end of your settlement.

Getting Started & Joining Your Rising World Server

Your server is installed the moment you order. From there, getting your group into the world typically looks like this:

  • Order: choose your slots and your location, and your server is set up instantly.
  • Name it: stop the server, open server.properties under Configuration Files, set Server_Name and, for a private world, Server_Password, save and press START.
  • Join: in Rising World open Multiplayer, search the server list for your server name and join, or connect directly with the address and port shown under Connection Info in your panel.
  • Tell your friends: the server name and the password, if you set one, are all they need, with their own copy of Rising World on Windows, Mac or Linux.

The GTX panel also shows your SFTP and query details on the home page, so you always know where your server lives. If your server does not appear in the browser, check that it is running, or ask our 24/7 team.

server.properties: Name, Password, World & Rules

Rising World reads every setting from server.properties in the server folder, and our panel exposes it under Configuration Files with a Text Editor and a Config Editor, so you never touch a command line. The lines most groups change first:

  • Server_Name, Server_ShortName and Server_Description: the full name in the server list, the short name of up to 32 characters and the description of up to 4096 characters shown when a player selects your server; Server_CustomHeaderImage adds your own 1024x512 picture.
  • Server_Password and Server_Visible: set a password for a private world and leave the server visible, or hide it from the list for a password-only group; Server_UseWhitelist locks it to the UIDs in your whitelist file.
  • Settings_MaxPlayers: the player count, set to match the slots you ordered.
  • World_Name, World_Seed and World_WorldType: which world loads, the seed it is generated from (blank for random) and its shape, Default, Superflat or FlatIslands, with World_Flatness and World_OreAmount for terrain and ore.
  • World_GameMode, Settings_PvP and Settings_PeacefulMode: Survival or Creative for a new world, player-versus-player on or off, and a peaceful world without hostile NPCs; the Settings_NpcSpawnrate lines, Settings_SeasonsEnabled, Settings_TimeDuration and Settings_PlantGrowthDurationFactor tune spawns, seasons, day length and farming.

Stop the server before you edit server.properties, save it, then start the server again: the server reads the file at startup. The game port (4255 by default, TCP and UDP), the query port one below it and the optional RCON port are set for you. The same folder holds default.json, the default permission group, and scheduler.txt, which greets new players and runs timed messages and commands.

Admins & Permission Groups

Running a community server means keeping order, and Rising World gives you two layers for it. Setting them up takes a minute:

  • Server_Admins: the UIDs of your admins, separated by semicolons, on one line of server.properties; with Permissions_AdminsFullPermissions left on, everyone on it has every command.
  • Permission groups: every group is a JSON file in the server's permissions folder, and the file name is the group name. default.json applies to everyone, admin.json carries every right, and you can add your own, such as builder.json or guest.json, with only the rights you choose.
  • Move a player: type spg PlayerName admin in the Web Console or the in-game chat, or makeadmin PlayerName while the player is online, and the rights apply at once; revokeadmin takes them away again. Permissions_DefaultNewPlayerPermissionGroup names the group every newcomer starts in.

Keep the admin list short and the server password to yourself: anyone on it can kick, ban, restart and shut down the server and make other admins. Our 24/7 support team can help if an admin locks themselves out.

Console Commands: Time, Weather, Teleport & Saves

Rising World's admin commands work from the in-game chat and from the Web Console in your panel, so you can run the world without joining it. The ones most groups use:

  • time (hours and minutes) and weather (a weather type) set the clock and the sky; gamemode switches a player between survival (0) and creative (1).
  • teleport and goto (x, y, z coordinates) move players around the map, and heal patches them up.
  • kick and ban (a player name and a duration) keep order; saveall writes the whole world to disk; restart (with a countdown in seconds) and shutdown do what they say, and reloadpermissions picks up a changed group file without a restart.

A short restart warning before a scheduled restart is kinder than a surprise, and Scheduled Tasks in the panel sends one for you.

Plugins & Blueprints

Rising World has no Steam Workshop; instead it has an official Plugin API, and the community publishes plugins and blueprints on the official forum. Installing a plugin on your server is a file job:

  • One folder per plugin: make a subfolder inside the server's Plugins folder, named after the plugin, and upload the plugin's files into it with the File Manager or SFTP.
  • Restart: the server loads its plugins at startup, so restart it from the panel and check the Log Viewer for the plugin's startup line.
  • Blueprints: players save buildings as blueprints in the game and can share the files; a shared blueprint placed on your server is a quick way to give a new world a town square.

Plugins run inside the server, so a broken one can slow it down or crash it: add them one at a time and keep a backup from before each one, and our 24/7 team can roll a server back if an update breaks a plugin.

Updates, Restarts & Backups

JIW Games keeps shipping numbered updates, such as 0.9.2 in April 2026 and 0.9.3 on 31 August 2026, and recommends restarting a Rising World server at least once every 24 hours. Three panel features keep your server in step without you watching for patches:

  • Steam Update: one button brings your server up to the current build; players on the new version can then join again.
  • Scheduled Tasks: run the daily restart, an update or a backup on a timer, with a warning message to players first, so nobody loses a build session to a surprise restart.
  • Backups: daily automatic backups on every server, plus the Backups folder in your File Manager and SFTP access for a copy on your own PC.

How Much Does Rising World Server Hosting Cost in Canada?

Pricing is simple: you pay for the number of slots, with up to 5GB of RAM and up to 100GB of NVMe storage included on every server:

  • 12 slots: from CA$10.66/mo. A group of friends building one settlement.
  • 20 slots: from CA$17.79/mo. A building community with a few projects on the go.
  • 32 slots: from CA$28.46/mo. Busy co-op and survival communities.

Billing is monthly by default, with three-month, six-month and yearly cycles available at a discount, and you can change plan or cancel at any time.

How Many Slots and How Much RAM Does a Rising World Server Need?

Choose a slot for every player who will be online at the same time; animals and NPCs do not use slots. 12 slots suits one group of friends, 20 slots a building community, and 40 slots or more a public server. The up to 5GB included with every server is the place to start, the control panel shows live memory use, and you can add memory from 8GB to 32GB at any time.

Locations for Rising World Server Hosting

Placing blocks and fighting off a bear both feel better without lag, so host close to your players. GTX Gaming runs Rising World server hosting from a Canadian datacentre in Quebec plus 18 more locations worldwide: New York, Ashburn, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles and Portland in the USA; London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Stockholm and Madrid in Europe; Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore and Mumbai in Asia-Pacific; plus Moscow. Use the live ping test above to find the lowest-latency location for your group, pick it at checkout, and if you need to move later our support team can migrate your server.
