Thank you Mr. Gibbs

Absolutely loved the friendliness and the quick response time. Even though I felt a little dumb for not realizing the problem myself, it felt twice as good to know that the fix was simple and clear.

FAQ

FiveM Server Hosting FAQ

Getting Started

How fast is FiveM server setup?

+
Instantly. Your FiveM server is activated as soon as payment completes, and your control panel login and connection details arrive within seconds. From there you open txAdmin, add your free Cfx.re licence key and deploy a recipe, so a fresh server can be online within minutes.

What is FiveM server hosting?

+
FiveM server hosting is a rented, always-online server for FiveM, the multiplayer modification framework for Grand Theft Auto V on PC. Instead of running the server software on your own computer, GTX Gaming runs it in a datacentre 24 hours a day with DDoS protection, backups and a control panel, so your GTA V roleplay or custom game mode server stays online whether you are logged in or not.

Do I need a licence key to run a FiveM server?

+
Yes. Every FiveM server needs a licence key from Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM. Registering a key is free on the Cfx Portal, and you enter it during txAdmin setup or in your server.cfg file. Our support team can show you where it goes if you get stuck.

Does my FiveM server come with txAdmin?

+
Yes. txAdmin is the official FiveM server management platform and is built into the server software. Your GTX Gaming control panel has an Open txAdmin button that takes you straight to it, plus an Update txAdmin button. From txAdmin you deploy recipes, manage players, bans and whitelists, schedule restarts, watch the live console and use the in-game admin menu.

Can I run ESX, QBCore or Qbox on my FiveM server?

+
Yes. You control which resources your server runs. ESX Legacy, QBCore and Qbox are three of the best-known roleplay frameworks, and each has a txAdmin recipe that downloads and configures the framework for you. Framework recipes like these store their data in a MySQL or MariaDB database, which the recipe asks for during setup. We provide a database with your server, and our 24/7 support team can help you get connected.

Can I move my existing FiveM server to GTX Gaming?

+
Yes. You can migrate a FiveM server from your own PC or from another host. Upload your resources and server.cfg through the File Manager or SFTP, restore your database if your framework uses one, and start the server. If you get stuck, our support team can help with the move or handle it for you.

What do I need to run a FiveM server?

+
Three things: the free FXServer software from Cfx.re, a free licence key registered on the Cfx Portal, and a machine that stays online with port 30120 open for TCP and UDP. Roleplay frameworks such as ESX, QBCore and Qbox also need a MySQL or MariaDB database. On a GTX Gaming server the software, txAdmin and the database are ready for you, so all you bring is your licence key. Your players need their own copy of GTA V on PC and the FiveM client.

How do I install scripts and resources on my FiveM server?

+
Upload the resource folder to your server's resources folder with the File Manager or SFTP, import its .sql file into your database if it comes with one, then add ensure followed by the resource name to server.cfg and restart the server. To load it without a restart, run refresh and then ensure with the resource name in the txAdmin live console.
Server & Sizing

How many players can join my FiveM server?

+
Player limits on FiveM come from Cfx.re's licensing. At the time of writing, a free licence key supports up to 48 player slots with OneSync, FiveM's server-side sync system, enabled. Higher slot counts need a Cfx.re Element Club subscription from the Cfx Portal, and the platform's ceiling is 2,048 slots. Our plans are priced by memory rather than per player slot.

How much RAM does a FiveM server need?

+
Every server includes up to 10GB of RAM, which is adequate for most FiveM servers. Memory use grows with the number of resources and scripts you run, the framework you choose and how busy the server gets, so established roleplay servers with larger script collections benefit from 16GB to 32GB, and 64GB is available for the largest projects. You can watch live memory use in the control panel and change your allocation at any time.

Can I upgrade my FiveM server later?

+
Yes. You can change your RAM allocation, disk space, CPU priority and clock boost at any time from your client area, and upgrades are applied without losing your server data. If you downgrade, you receive account credit for the difference. Moving to a different location is handled by our support team on request.

Which locations can I host a FiveM server in?

+
18 locations worldwide: Quebec in Canada; New York, Ashburn, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles and Portland in the USA; London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Madrid in Europe; Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore and Mumbai in Asia-Pacific; plus Moscow. Some locations carry a surcharge, shown at checkout. Run the ping test on this page to find your lowest-latency location, then pick it during checkout.

Is FiveM available on console, and what do players need to join?

+
FiveM is PC only. Cfx.re states that a console version is not feasible, so PlayStation and Xbox players cannot join FiveM servers. To connect, each player needs their own copy of Grand Theft Auto V on PC and the FiveM client from the official FiveM website.

Is FiveM approved by Rockstar Games?

+
Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, officially became part of Rockstar Games in August 2023, and Rockstar has expanded its policy on mods to officially include those made by the roleplay community. Server owners still need to follow Cfx.re's terms for the platform.

Is a FiveM VPS better than FiveM game server hosting?

+
Only if you want to manage everything yourself. On a VPS you install FXServer, txAdmin and a database, open port 30120 and handle updates, security and backups on your own. FiveM game server hosting does that groundwork for you: txAdmin and a MySQL database are ready, DDoS protection and daily automatic backups are included, and our 24/7 support team knows FiveM. Either way, player slots follow Cfx.re's licensing, with OneSync free up to 48 slots.
Pricing & Billing

Should I host a FiveM server on my own PC?

+
You can, since the FiveM server software is free to download. In practice a home connection struggles with the uptime, upload bandwidth and DDoS exposure that a public roleplay server attracts, and your city goes offline whenever your PC does. A rented FiveM server runs 24 hours a day on datacentre hardware with DDoS protection and daily backups, so your community can play whenever they like.

How much does FiveM server hosting cost in Canada?

+
GTX Gaming FiveM server hosting starts at CA$44.48/mo with up to 10GB of RAM and up to 100GB of NVMe storage included. A 16GB server is CA$64.03/mo and a 32GB server is CA$87.16/mo. There are no setup fees and no contracts, so you can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time.

What is your refund policy?

+
We offer a 24-hour money-back guarantee on FiveM server hosting. If your server isn't right for you within the first 24 hours of order, contact us for a full refund, no questions asked.

Do you offer monthly FiveM server hosting with no contract?

+
Yes. Every GTX Gaming FiveM server can be billed monthly with no minimum contract and no setup fee, and you can add or remove upgrades or cancel at any time from your client area. Three-month, six-month and yearly billing cycles are also available with discounts of 5%, 10% and 15%.
The Complete Guide

The Complete Guide to FiveM Server Hosting in Canada & Worldwide

Everything you need to know before you rent a FiveM server in Canada or any of GTX Gaming's worldwide datacentres, from the Cfx.re licence key and txAdmin to roleplay frameworks, OneSync player slots, RAM sizing, pricing and locations.

What Is FiveM Server Hosting?

FiveM server hosting is a managed service that runs the FiveM server software on professional hardware in a datacentre, around the clock, so your server stays online whether or not you are at your PC. Every GTX Gaming FiveM server includes txAdmin, up to 10GB of RAM, up to 100GB of NVMe storage, daily automatic backups, enterprise DDoS protection and a web control panel that turns jobs like restarting the server, editing configuration files or restoring a backup into a few clicks.

People look for it as GTA FiveM server hosting, GTA V FiveM hosting or simply a FiveM server to rent, and they all mean the same thing: a private, always-on home for your own FiveM server, with your rules, your scripts and your community.

What Is FiveM for GTA V?

FiveM is a multiplayer modification framework for Grand Theft Auto V on PC, built by Cfx.re. It lets anyone run a customised dedicated server with its own scripts, maps, vehicles and game modes, which is why it became the home of GTA V roleplay. In August 2023 Cfx.re officially became part of Rockstar Games, the studio behind Grand Theft Auto.

  • Roleplay at scale: police, medics, gangs, businesses and player-run economies, all defined by the server's own scripts.
  • Custom everything: servers add their own vehicles, clothing, maps and interiors, which players download from the server when they join.
  • More than roleplay: racing, drifting, freeroam and minigame servers all run on the same platform.
  • PC only: every player needs their own copy of GTA V on PC and the FiveM client. There is no console version.

In 2026 Cfx.re also opened early access to FiveM for GTAV Enhanced, a separate download for the Enhanced edition of the game. If you are planning a server for the Enhanced edition, speak to our team before you order so we can point you in the right direction.

Why Rent a FiveM Server?

The FiveM server software is free to download, so you could run it from a spare machine at home. Most communities rent a FiveM server instead, for reasons that show up the first time the host's PC goes to sleep in the middle of a scene:

  • Always online: your server runs 24 hours a day, so players in any timezone can log in without waiting for a host.
  • DDoS protection: public roleplay servers attract attacks, and a home connection has no defence. Enterprise mitigation at the datacentre edge keeps yours online.
  • Proper hardware: high-frequency CPUs and NVMe storage in a datacentre, instead of whatever is spare at home.
  • Backups and support: daily automatic backups and a 24/7 support team mean a broken script or a bad update is an inconvenience, not a disaster.

The FiveM Licence Key & Getting Started

Every FiveM server needs a licence key from Cfx.re. Registering one is free: sign in to the Cfx Portal, register a server key and keep it to hand. From there, getting a GTX server online typically looks like this:

  • Order: choose your RAM and location, and your server is set up instantly.
  • Open txAdmin: use the Open txAdmin button in the control panel and follow its first-run setup.
  • Deploy a recipe: pick a base, from the default FiveM template to a full roleplay framework, and enter your licence key when asked.
  • Start and connect: start the server, then join from the FiveM client using the connection details shown in your control panel.

The official Cfx.re server manual covers the same ground in more depth if you want to understand what a recipe is doing for you.

txAdmin: Managing Your FiveM Server

txAdmin is the official FiveM server management platform and ships inside the server software, so there is nothing extra to install. On a GTX server you reach it from the Open txAdmin button in the control panel. Day to day it gives you:

  • Player management: warnings, bans, whitelisting, player notes and playtime tracking.
  • Monitoring: a live console, performance charts, CPU and RAM tracking and an automatic restart if the server crashes.
  • Scheduled restarts: planned restarts with warning announcements for players.
  • In-game admin menu: moderation and utility tools without leaving the game.
  • Discord integration: a status embed for your community's Discord server.
  • Admin permissions: separate logins for your staff with their own permissions and an action log.

FiveM Roleplay Frameworks: ESX, QBCore & Qbox

A framework is the foundation a roleplay server is built on: it supplies the core systems, such as characters, jobs, inventories and money, that other scripts plug into. Three of the best known are ESX Legacy, QBCore and Qbox, and each is available as a txAdmin recipe:

  • ESX Legacy: a long-running framework with a large catalogue of compatible scripts.
  • QBCore: a widely used framework core with its own script ecosystem.
  • Qbox: a newer framework that started as a fork of QBCore and keeps backwards compatibility with most QBCore scripts.

We do not push you towards one or another. The right choice is usually the one your developers know and the one the scripts you want are written for. Framework recipes like these store their data in a MySQL or MariaDB database, which the recipe asks for during setup and which we provide with your server, and you are free to skip frameworks entirely and run standalone resources such as freeroam, racing or a simple menu-based server.

OneSync & FiveM Player Slots

OneSync is FiveM's server-side synchronisation system. It raises the number of players a server can hold and gives scripts server-side awareness of what is happening in the world. At the time of writing OneSync is free for up to 48 player slots, higher slot counts require a Cfx.re Element Club subscription bought through the Cfx Portal, and the platform's ceiling is 2,048 slots.

Those limits come from Cfx.re's licensing, and GTX plans are priced by memory rather than per player slot. What a bigger community does need is headroom, so size your RAM for the resources you run and the number of players you expect, and upgrade when the live graphs in the control panel tell you to.

How to Install FiveM Resources and Scripts

Almost everything that makes a FiveM server your own, from jobs and cars to maps and HUDs, is a resource. Each resource is a folder with an fxmanifest.lua file that tells the server what to load. Adding one to your GTX server takes a few minutes:

  • Check your backups: daily automatic backups run on every server, so a bad install can be rolled back from the control panel.
  • Upload: put the resource folder in your server's resources folder with the File Manager, or over SFTP for bigger packs.
  • Import the SQL: if the script ships with an .sql file, import it into your server's database first. Many ESX, QBCore and Qbox scripts need this.
  • Add it to server.cfg: add a line such as ensure [resource name] so it starts with the server. Order matters: start your framework before the scripts that depend on it.
  • Start it: restart the server from txAdmin or the control panel. To load it without a full restart, run refresh and then ensure [resource name] in the live console.

Paid resources protected by Cfx.re's asset escrow only run on a server whose licence key belongs to the Cfx.re account that bought them, so register your key with that same account. If a resource fails to start, the live console in txAdmin shows the error, and our 24/7 support team is there if you get stuck.

How Much Does FiveM Server Hosting Cost in Canada?

Pricing is simple: one server with up to 10GB of RAM and up to 100GB of NVMe storage included, and optional memory upgrades on top:

  • 10GB RAM: from CA$44.48/mo. The included allocation, adequate for most servers.
  • 12GB RAM: from CA$56.92/mo. A little extra headroom.
  • 16GB RAM: from CA$64.03/mo. Established roleplay servers with larger script collections.
  • 20GB RAM: from CA$71.15/mo. Busy communities running many resources.
  • 24GB RAM: from CA$76.49/mo. Large communities with heavy resource lists.
  • 32GB RAM: from CA$87.16/mo. Very large communities at full stretch.
  • 64GB RAM: from CA$122.74/mo. The largest projects.

All plans include instant setup, txAdmin, DDoS protection, daily automatic backups and 24/7 support, with no setup fee and no contract. Billing is monthly by default, with three-month, six-month and yearly cycles available at a discount, and you can change plan or cancel at any time.

How Much RAM Does a FiveM Server Need?

The 10GB included with every server is adequate for most FiveM servers. Memory demand grows with the things that make a city feel alive: more resources, more scripts running at once and more players connected. As a rough guide, an established roleplay server with a larger script collection is comfortable on 16GB, large communities with heavy resource lists sit well on 24GB to 32GB, and 64GB exists for the biggest projects. The control panel shows live memory use, so the sensible approach is to start on the included allocation, watch the graph once your resources are installed, and upgrade from your client area in a couple of clicks if you are running close to the limit.

Locations for FiveM Server Hosting

Driving, shooting and voice chat all feel better on a low ping, so host close to your players. GTX Gaming runs FiveM server hosting from a Canadian datacentre in Quebec plus 17 more locations worldwide: New York, Ashburn, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles and Portland in the USA; London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Madrid in Europe; Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore and Mumbai in Asia-Pacific; plus Moscow. Some locations carry a surcharge, shown at checkout. Use the live ping test above to find the lowest-latency location for your community, pick it at checkout, and if you need to move later our support team can migrate your server.

FiveM VPS vs Game Server Hosting: How to Choose a Host

Search for FiveM hosting and you will find two kinds of offer: a VPS and managed FiveM game server hosting. A VPS is an empty virtual machine. You install the FXServer software and txAdmin yourself, set up a MySQL or MariaDB database, open port 30120 for TCP and UDP, and handle updates, security and backups on your own. That suits experienced admins who want full root access. Game server hosting does the groundwork for you, so you start with txAdmin ready, a database provided and a control panel for files, backups and restarts.

Whichever route you take, these are the things worth comparing:

  • Memory: a city grows with every script. Check how much RAM a plan includes and how easily you can add more. Every GTX Gaming FiveM server includes up to 10GB, with upgrades up to 64GB.
  • CPU speed: busy servers with heavy scripts lean on the processor, so look for high-frequency CPUs. Ours run on high-frequency cores, with optional CPU priority and clock boost upgrades.
  • DDoS protection: public roleplay servers attract attacks. Mitigation at the datacentre edge keeps yours online.
  • Location: ping decides how driving, shooting and voice chat feel. Pick a location close to your players (see Locations).
  • txAdmin and a database: txAdmin should be ready to go and a MySQL database included, so framework recipes install without extra work.
  • Honest player slots: slot limits come from Cfx.re licensing, not from your host. OneSync is free up to 48 slots, and more needs an Element Club subscription, so no host can sell you more slots than your licence allows.
  • Billing and support: monthly billing with no contract and no setup fee, a 24-hour money-back guarantee and 24/7 support, so you can try a host without risk.

Not sure which plan fits your community? Compare them under pricing, or ask our 24/7 support team to size a server with you.
