+The Complete Guide to FiveM Server Hosting in Australia & Worldwide
Everything you need to know before you rent a FiveM server in Australia or any of GTX Gaming's worldwide datacentres, from the Cfx.re licence key and txAdmin to roleplay frameworks, OneSync player slots, RAM sizing, pricing and locations.
What Is FiveM Server Hosting?
FiveM server hosting is a managed service that runs the FiveM server software on professional hardware in a datacentre, around the clock, so your server stays online whether or not you are at your PC. Every GTX Gaming FiveM server includes txAdmin, up to 10GB of RAM, up to 100GB of NVMe storage, daily automatic backups, enterprise DDoS protection and a web control panel that turns jobs like restarting the server, editing configuration files or restoring a backup into a few clicks.
People look for it as GTA FiveM server hosting, GTA V FiveM hosting or simply a FiveM server to rent, and they all mean the same thing: a private, always-on home for your own FiveM server, with your rules, your scripts and your community.
What Is FiveM for GTA V?
FiveM is a multiplayer modification framework for Grand Theft Auto V on PC, built by Cfx.re. It lets anyone run a customised dedicated server with its own scripts, maps, vehicles and game modes, which is why it became the home of GTA V roleplay. In August 2023 Cfx.re officially became part of Rockstar Games, the studio behind Grand Theft Auto.
- Roleplay at scale: police, medics, gangs, businesses and player-run economies, all defined by the server's own scripts.
- Custom everything: servers add their own vehicles, clothing, maps and interiors, which players download from the server when they join.
- More than roleplay: racing, drifting, freeroam and minigame servers all run on the same platform.
- PC only: every player needs their own copy of GTA V on PC and the FiveM client. There is no console version.
In 2026 Cfx.re also opened early access to FiveM for GTAV Enhanced, a separate download for the Enhanced edition of the game. If you are planning a server for the Enhanced edition, speak to our team before you order so we can point you in the right direction.
Why Rent a FiveM Server?
The FiveM server software is free to download, so you could run it from a spare machine at home. Most communities rent a FiveM server instead, for reasons that show up the first time the host's PC goes to sleep in the middle of a scene:
- Always online: your server runs 24 hours a day, so players in any timezone can log in without waiting for a host.
- DDoS protection: public roleplay servers attract attacks, and a home connection has no defence. Enterprise mitigation at the datacentre edge keeps yours online.
- Proper hardware: high-frequency CPUs and NVMe storage in a datacentre, instead of whatever is spare at home.
- Backups and support: daily automatic backups and a 24/7 support team mean a broken script or a bad update is an inconvenience, not a disaster.
The FiveM Licence Key & Getting Started
Every FiveM server needs a licence key from Cfx.re. Registering one is free: sign in to the Cfx Portal, register a server key and keep it to hand. From there, getting a GTX server online typically looks like this:
- Order: choose your RAM and location, and your server is set up instantly.
- Open txAdmin: use the Open txAdmin button in the control panel and follow its first-run setup.
- Deploy a recipe: pick a base, from the default FiveM template to a full roleplay framework, and enter your licence key when asked.
- Start and connect: start the server, then join from the FiveM client using the connection details shown in your control panel.
The official Cfx.re server manual covers the same ground in more depth if you want to understand what a recipe is doing for you.
txAdmin: Managing Your FiveM Server
txAdmin is the official FiveM server management platform and ships inside the server software, so there is nothing extra to install. On a GTX server you reach it from the Open txAdmin button in the control panel. Day to day it gives you:
- Player management: warnings, bans, whitelisting, player notes and playtime tracking.
- Monitoring: a live console, performance charts, CPU and RAM tracking and an automatic restart if the server crashes.
- Scheduled restarts: planned restarts with warning announcements for players.
- In-game admin menu: moderation and utility tools without leaving the game.
- Discord integration: a status embed for your community's Discord server.
- Admin permissions: separate logins for your staff with their own permissions and an action log.
FiveM Roleplay Frameworks: ESX, QBCore & Qbox
A framework is the foundation a roleplay server is built on: it supplies the core systems, such as characters, jobs, inventories and money, that other scripts plug into. Three of the best known are ESX Legacy, QBCore and Qbox, and each is available as a txAdmin recipe:
- ESX Legacy: a long-running framework with a large catalogue of compatible scripts.
- QBCore: a widely used framework core with its own script ecosystem.
- Qbox: a newer framework that started as a fork of QBCore and keeps backwards compatibility with most QBCore scripts.
We do not push you towards one or another. The right choice is usually the one your developers know and the one the scripts you want are written for. Framework recipes like these store their data in a MySQL or MariaDB database, which the recipe asks for during setup and which we provide with your server, and you are free to skip frameworks entirely and run standalone resources such as freeroam, racing or a simple menu-based server.
OneSync & FiveM Player Slots
OneSync is FiveM's server-side synchronisation system. It raises the number of players a server can hold and gives scripts server-side awareness of what is happening in the world. At the time of writing OneSync is free for up to 48 player slots, higher slot counts require a Cfx.re Element Club subscription bought through the Cfx Portal, and the platform's ceiling is 2,048 slots.
Those limits come from Cfx.re's licensing, and GTX plans are priced by memory rather than per player slot. What a bigger community does need is headroom, so size your RAM for the resources you run and the number of players you expect, and upgrade when the live graphs in the control panel tell you to.
How Much Does FiveM Server Hosting Cost in Australia?
Pricing is simple: one server with up to 10GB of RAM and up to 100GB of NVMe storage included, and optional memory upgrades on top:
- 10GB RAM: from A$48.89/mo. The included allocation, adequate for most servers.
- 12GB RAM: from A$62.56/mo. A little extra headroom.
- 16GB RAM: from A$70.38/mo. Established roleplay servers with larger script collections.
- 20GB RAM: from A$78.20/mo. Busy communities running many resources.
- 24GB RAM: from A$84.07/mo. Large communities with heavy resource lists.
- 32GB RAM: from A$95.80/mo. Very large communities at full stretch.
- 64GB RAM: from A$134.91/mo. The largest projects.
All plans include instant setup, txAdmin, DDoS protection, daily automatic backups and 24/7 support, with no setup fee and no contract. Billing is monthly by default, with three-month, six-month and yearly cycles available at a discount, and you can change plan or cancel at any time.
How Much RAM Does a FiveM Server Need?
The 10GB included with every server is adequate for most FiveM servers. Memory demand grows with the things that make a city feel alive: more resources, more scripts running at once and more players connected. As a rough guide, an established roleplay server with a larger script collection is comfortable on 16GB, large communities with heavy resource lists sit well on 24GB to 32GB, and 64GB exists for the biggest projects. The control panel shows live memory use, so the sensible approach is to start on the included allocation, watch the graph once your resources are installed, and upgrade from your client area in a couple of clicks if you are running close to the limit.
Locations for FiveM Server Hosting
Driving, shooting and voice chat all feel better on a low ping, so host close to your players. GTX Gaming runs FiveM server hosting from an Australian datacentre in Sydney plus 17 more locations worldwide: Tokyo, Singapore and Mumbai in Asia; London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Madrid in Europe; New York, Ashburn, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles, Portland and Quebec in North America; plus Moscow. Some locations carry a surcharge, shown at checkout. Use the live ping test above to find the lowest-latency location for your community, pick it at checkout, and if you need to move later our support team can migrate your server.
