The Isle Server Hosting: Evrima, Gateway & Game.ini
Your server runs Evrima, the current version of The Isle, on the Gateway map. Game.ini lets you decide which dinosaurs spawn, how fast they grow, whether migrations and mutations are on and who runs the island.
The current public branch of The Isle on the Gateway map, kept up to date with the Evrima update button and Steam Update.
Current VersionAllowedClasses decides which dinosaurs players can pick: remove a line and that species no longer spawns on your island.
Your RosterGrowthMultiplier sets how fast dinosaurs grow up, from a slow, tense life cycle to a quicker climb to adult.
Your PaceTurn patrol zones and mass migrations on or off, set how long migrations last, and control plant food and AI spawns.
Your EcosystemKeep every mutation, switch mutations off, or list only the ones you want with their own values.
Your RulesAdd admins by SteamID64, lock the server with a password or whitelist, and manage it over RCON.
Private or PublicAlready running a The Isle server with another host? Copy your Game.ini settings across in the Configuration Files, keep your species list, admins and whitelist, and our 24/7 team can help with the move or handle it for you.

+The Complete Guide to The Isle Server Hosting in Australia & Worldwide
Everything you need to know before you rent a The Isle server in Australia or any of GTX Gaming's worldwide datacentres, from joining and the Gateway map to Game.ini settings, choosing your species, growth and mutations, admins, whitelist and RCON, mods, slots, pricing and locations.
What Is The Isle Server Hosting?
The Isle server hosting is a managed service that runs a The Isle dedicated server on professional hardware in a datacentre, around the clock, so your community can keep hunting, nesting and growing whether or not you are at your PC. Every GTX Gaming The Isle server includes up to 5GB of RAM, up to 100GB of NVMe storage, daily automatic backups, enterprise DDoS protection and a web control panel, so jobs like choosing your species, adding an admin or updating to the latest Evrima patch take a few clicks.
People look for it as a The Isle dedicated server, a The Isle private server, a The Isle game server or a The Isle Evrima server, and they all mean the same thing: your own always-on The Isle server, with your island, your species list and your rules.
What Is The Isle?
The Isle is an open-world dinosaur survival game from Afterthought LLC, in Early Access on Steam since 1 December 2015. Its pitch is simple: hunt, grow, survive. You play as a dinosaur on an island built to kill you, and every other player is either a threat or a meal.
- Dozens of creatures: from small, darting herbivores such as Dryosaurus to giants such as T. Rex and Allosaurus, according to the game's Steam page.
- Grow to survive: in Survival, dinosaurs start small and vulnerable and grow through life stages, unlocking abilities such as nesting along the way.
- Massive multiplayer: Steam describes servers with up to 100+ players, with packs, herds, nests and territory to fight over.
- Still in development: Evrima, the current version, keeps getting patches, most recently 0.21.772 in August 2026, and Afterthought posts a monthly DevBlog on Steam.
Why Rent Your Own The Isle Server?
Public servers are crowded and run by someone else's rules. With your own server you decide who plays, which dinosaurs spawn and how hard life on the island is. Most communities rent rather than host at home, for reasons that show up within the first week:
- Always online: the server runs 24 hours a day, so players in every time zone can log in and keep growing.
- Nothing to run at home: no ports to open on your router and no PC left running all night.
- Room for everyone: from 10 slots for a group of friends to 250 for a large community.
- Proper hardware: high-frequency CPUs and NVMe storage in a datacentre, with DDoS protection at the network edge.
- Backups and support: daily automatic backups and a 24/7 support team mean a broken setting or a bad update is an inconvenience, not the end of your server.
Getting Started & Joining Your The Isle Server
Your server is set up the moment you order. From there, getting your players onto the island typically looks like this:
- Order: choose your slots and your location, and your server is set up instantly.
- Name it: set ServerName in Game.ini through Configuration Files, so players can find your server in the server list.
- Make it yours: add your own SteamID64 as an admin, pick your species and set a password or whitelist if you want a private server, then restart.
- Join: start The Isle, open the server list, search for your server's name and join.
Your control panel shows your server's connection, query and RCON ports. If your server does not appear in the list, check that it is running and that the name you search for matches ServerName exactly, or ask our 24/7 team.
Evrima, Gateway & Game Updates
Evrima is the current version of The Isle, and the original version is known as Legacy. Afterthought moved the Gateway map onto the Evrima branch in November 2023, and it is the map your server runs. The panel's Configuration Files keep a set of files marked EVRIMA [GATEWAY MAP], which are the ones your server uses.
- Updates: when Afterthought releases a new Evrima patch, the EVRIMA [GATEWAY MAP] Update button or Steam Update brings your server up to date. Players need the same version as the server to join.
- Hordetests: Afterthought tests upcoming builds in Hordetest events before they reach the public branch. Your server runs the public branch.
- Legacy: we host Evrima. Legacy is no longer offered as a separate product.
Game.ini: Server Name, Password & Game Settings
Your server's settings live in Game.ini, which you edit through Configuration Files in the control panel, with a Config Editor for the common settings and a Text Editor for everything else. The settings that matter most:
- ServerName: the name players see and search for in the server list.
- bServerPassword: turns the server password on for a private island.
- MaxPlayerCount: your player limit, which follows the slot count you order.
- ServerDayLengthMinutes and ServerNightLengthMinutes: how long day and night last, 45 and 20 minutes by default.
- bEnableGlobalChat: switches the Global Chat panel on or off.
- bQueueEnabled: a join queue for busy servers.
Change a setting, save the file and restart the server for it to take effect. Keep a backup before big changes, so you can always go back.
Choosing Your Dinosaurs, Growth & Mutations
The settings that shape life on your island are all in Game.ini too:
- AllowedClasses: one line per playable species. Remove a line and that species can no longer be picked. The comments in the file say the list can also be managed from the in-game Admin Panel in real time.
- GrowthMultiplier: a universal multiplier for how fast dinosaurs grow. The file itself warns that very high values can break growth.
- bEnableMigration and MaxMigrationTime: patrol zones, species migrations and mass migrations, and how long each migration zone lasts.
- bEnableMutations and EnabledMutations: keep every mutation, switch them off, or list only the mutations you want with their own values.
- bSpawnPlants, bSpawnAI, AISpawnInterval and DisallowedAIClasses: plant food, AI creature spawns, how often AI spawns, and which AI creatures are left out.
Admins, Whitelist & RCON
Running a community means keeping order. Three tools help:
- Admins: add an AdminsSteamIDs line with the SteamID64 of each admin, then restart.
- Whitelist: set bServerWhitelist to true and add a WhitelistIDs line for each player who may join.
- RCON: RCON is switched on by default, with its port shown in your control panel and the password in Server Details. Connect with an RCON tool made for The Isle Evrima to announce, save, kick and ban without being in game. Our help guide walks you through it step by step.
RCON is not encrypted, so keep your RCON password to yourself and your admins and never reuse it anywhere else. For timed restarts with warnings for your players, use Scheduled Tasks in the control panel.
Mods, UE4SS & the Admin UI
The Isle does not have official mod support yet: mod support using Steam Workshop is on Afterthought's list of planned features on Steam. The Mod Manager in your control panel offers two community tools in one click, the UE4SS mod loader and the AI Admin UI (IsleServerMod). Take a backup before you install either, since community tools can stop working after a game update until their makers catch up.
How Much Does The Isle Server Hosting Cost in Australia?
Pricing is simple: you pay for the number of slots, with up to 5GB of RAM and up to 100GB of NVMe storage included on every server:
- 10 slots: from A$19.54/mo. A group of friends on a private island.
- 30 slots: from A$41.05/mo. Packs, herds and small communities.
- 50 slots: from A$56.69/mo. Growing communities.
- 100 slots: from A$80.16/mo. Public servers.
- 250 slots: from A$125.14/mo. The biggest island we offer.
Every tier in between is in the full plan list at the top of this page. All plans include instant setup, DDoS protection, daily automatic backups and 24/7 support, with no setup fee and no contract. Billing is monthly by default, with three-month, six-month and yearly cycles available at a discount, and you can change plan or cancel at any time.
How Many Slots and How Much RAM Does a The Isle Server Need?
Choose a slot for every player who will be online at the same time. 10 slots suits a group of friends, 30 to 50 slots a pack-based community, and 100 slots or more a public server. On memory, our own 30 slot demo server used about 1.3GB on a fresh Gateway map with nobody online. More players and more AI use more, so busy servers need more. The up to 5GB included with every server is the place to start, the control panel shows live memory use, and you can add memory from 8GB to 32GB at any time.
Locations for The Isle Server Hosting
A hunt is decided in a split second, so host close to your players. Some locations carry a surcharge, shown at checkout. Use the live ping test above to find the lowest-latency location for your community, pick it at checkout, and if you need to move later our support team can migrate your server.
