RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server Hosting: Worlds & Settings
Your party finds the server by its world name, your own world uploads from your PC, and every setting Jagex's dedicated server offers is yours: server name, passwords, owner and admin rights, and the crossplay option.
Your party opens the Public tab of the Worlds screen, searches your exact world name (it is case sensitive) and joins. Add a world password if you only want your friends in.
Easy JoiningThe 1.0 release added crossplay, and Jagex's notes give dedicated servers a crossplay option too, so a party split across PC and consoles can share one world when it is switched on.
1.0 CrossplayYour Owner ID makes you the owner, able to ban and unban anyone. Share the Admin Password with trusted friends: admins open Server Management in game and can ban players who are online.
Server ManagementStarted on your own PC? Upload your world's .sav file into the server's Savegames folder and carry on in the world you built.
World UploadCreate a Custom or Creative world in the game on your PC with the settings you want, then upload it. Custom worlds offer over 50 settings, so your world plays your way.
Your RulesSet an optional world password in DedicatedServer.ini. It overrides any password saved in the world, or leave it empty to let anyone join.
Private WorldsUpload your world's .sav file from your PC into the server through the File Manager or SFTP, restart, and everything you built comes with it. Our 24/7 team can help with the move or handle it for you.
How Many Slots & How Much RAM Does My RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server Need?

| Slots | Best for | From (10GB RAM included) |
|---|---|---|
| 2 slots | A duo adventure in Ashenfall | $12.55/mo |

+The Complete Guide to RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server Hosting in the USA & Worldwide
Everything you need to know before you rent a RuneScape: Dragonwilds server in the USA or any of GTX Gaming's worldwide datacenters, from the game itself and joining by world name to DedicatedServer.ini, uploading Custom and Creative worlds, owners and admins, crossplay, updates, slots, RAM, pricing and locations.
What Is RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server Hosting?
RuneScape: Dragonwilds server hosting is a managed service that runs the official RuneScape: Dragonwilds dedicated server on professional hardware in a datacenter, around the clock, so your party's world keeps running whether or not the host is online. Every GTX Gaming RuneScape: Dragonwilds server includes up to 10GB of RAM, up to 100GB of NVMe storage, daily automatic backups, enterprise DDoS protection and a web control panel with Configuration Files, a File Manager and Steam Update.
People look for it as a RuneScape: Dragonwilds dedicated server, a RuneScape: Dragonwilds game server, a RuneScape: Dragonwilds private server or simply a Dragonwilds server to rent, and they all mean the same thing: a home for your own RuneScape: Dragonwilds server, with your world, your rules and nobody joining uninvited.
What Is RuneScape: Dragonwilds?
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is a co-operative survival RPG from Jagex, the studio behind RuneScape. It is set on Ashenfall, RuneScape's forgotten continent, where dragons have awoken: you gather, build, skill and craft your way from a bare camp to a fortified home, and work up to facing the Dragon Queen herself. It entered Early Access on Steam in April 2025, and its full 1.0 release arrived on 15 September 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Jagex Launcher. According to Jagex, it brings:
- Skills to 99: level your skills all the way to 99 and unlock Skill Spells that turn chores into magic, like a spectral axe that fells trees in an instant.
- Quests and lore: hand-crafted quests steeped in RuneScape lore, with classic foes such as Black Knights and Zogres alongside the new Garou.
- Regions and bosses: from Brynmoor and Ghornfell to Fellhollow, Dowdun Reach and the deserts of Umbral Sands, with dragon bosses, the Black Knight Titan and the Kalphite Queen along the way.
- Building: hundreds of building pieces to raise a home that stands up to the dragon threat.
- The Dragon Queen: Kuldra's Saga ends in the Scorned Wilderness raid against Kuldra, the God-Eater, added with 1.0.
- Co-op: play alone or with friends, in a world hosted from the game or on a dedicated server.
The game keeps growing: Jagex has promised monthly updates after 1.0 and has announced a free winter update called Luminance.
Why Rent a RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server?
Anyone can host a RuneScape: Dragonwilds world from inside the game, but then the world only exists while the host is playing. Jagex's own guide rates running a dedicated server at home as hard. Most parties rent one instead:
- Always online: your world runs 24 hours a day, so friends on different schedules can skill, build and quest whenever they like, without waiting for the host.
- Nothing to run at home: no spare PC to leave on and no UDP port 7777 to forward through your router and ISP. Jagex notes that some ISPs block port forwarding altogether; on a GTX server that is our job.
- Your rules: pick the world, set a world password, choose who becomes an admin and use the crossplay option.
- Proper hardware: high-frequency CPUs and NVMe storage in a datacenter, with DDoS protection at the network edge, so a dragon fight is decided by your party and not by someone's home connection.
- Backups and support: at home, backups are manual. With GTX you get daily automatic backups, restore in the panel and a 24/7 support team, so a broken world is an inconvenience, not the end of your saga.
Getting Started & Joining Your Server
Your server is set up the moment you order. From there, getting your party into Ashenfall typically looks like this:
- Order: choose your slots, memory and location, and your server is set up instantly.
- Find your Player ID: in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, open the Settings menu. Your Player ID is at the bottom, with a copy button.
- Set the required values: stop the server, open DedicatedServer.ini in Configuration Files and enter your Owner ID, Server Name, Default World Name and Admin Password, then start the server.
- Join: open the Worlds screen, go to the Public tab and search for your exact world name. The search is case sensitive. Your party does the same.
If your server does not show up, check that the world name you searched is the one the server is running, that the required values are set, and that the server runs the same game version as your game. The server log tells you what the server is doing.
Server Settings: DedicatedServer.ini
RuneScape: Dragonwilds keeps its server settings in one file, DedicatedServer.ini, under RSDragonwilds/Saved/Config, and you edit it in Configuration Files in your control panel. Always stop the server first: Jagex warns that values changed while the server is running are lost. The file holds:
- Owner ID: your Player ID, which makes you the server's owner. Jagex's guide lists it as required.
- Server Name: the name of your server, whichever world it runs.
- Default World Name: the name of the world the server creates when it starts without a save, and the name your party searches for.
- Admin Password: anyone who enters it in the in-game Server Management tab becomes an admin.
- World password: optional. It overrides any password saved in the world; leave it empty to let anyone join.
Custom, Creative & Uploaded Worlds
When the server starts, it loads the latest .sav file in RSDragonwilds/Saved/Savegames. If there is none, it creates a default Standard world. To play a Custom or Creative world, or to carry on with a world you started at home, you create or play it on your PC and upload it. Jagex's guide describes the steps:
- Create or pick the world: in the game on your PC, create a new world with the settings you want, Standard, Custom or Creative, then enter it once and exit. Custom worlds offer over 50 settings to tune.
- Stop and back up: stop the server, copy everything in its Savegames folder somewhere safe, then empty the folder.
- Upload: copy your world's .sav file from AppData/Local/RSDragonwilds/Saved/SaveGames on your PC into RSDragonwilds/Saved/Savegames on the server with the File Manager or SFTP.
- Start: start the server and it loads your world.
You back up a world the same way: copy any .sav from the Savegames folder somewhere safe and rename the copy so you know what it is. Our daily automatic backups cover the whole server on top of that, and our support team can handle a move for you.
Owners, Admins & Bans
Jagex's dedicated server splits players into three groups, so you can share the work of running a world without handing over the keys:
- Owner: the player whose Player ID matches the Owner ID in DedicatedServer.ini. The owner can ban and unban anyone, online or offline.
- Admins: anyone who enters the Admin Password in the Server Management tab of the in-game Settings menu. Admins can ban regular players who are online, but cannot unban, and they stay admins until the Admin Password changes.
- Regular players: everyone else.
To take admin rights away, stop the server, change the Admin Password in Configuration Files and start it again.
Crossplay & Platforms
The 1.0 release brought RuneScape: Dragonwilds to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 alongside PC on Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Jagex Launcher, and added crossplay. Jagex's 1.0 notes say dedicated servers now also have a crossplay option, and that crossplay worlds show in the world browser. The same release added invite codes for joining worlds, shown in the in-game pause menu. Jagex is still polishing the console and crossplay experience with regular patches, so if a friend on another platform cannot see your world, check the latest patch notes and make sure the server runs the current version.
Updates & Version Matching
Jagex patches RuneScape: Dragonwilds regularly and has promised monthly updates after 1.0. Your server has to run the same version as your players' game: if your server suddenly vanishes from the Public tab after a patch, a version mismatch is the usual cause. Update it with Steam Update in your control panel and restart. The server log shows the server's version at the top, and the game shows its own version in the top left corner of the screen, so you can compare the two. Take a backup before big updates; our daily automatic backups cover you too.
How Much Does RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server Hosting Cost in the USA?
You pay for the number of slots you choose, with up to 10GB of RAM and up to 100GB of NVMe storage included on every server:
- Bronze, 2 slots: $12.55/mo. A duo adventure in Ashenfall.
- Mithril, 4 slots: $17.74/mo. Our recommended size: a party of four with room to grow.
- Rune, 6 slots: $22.81/mo. The full six-player world, Jagex's maximum.
All plans include instant setup, up to 10GB of RAM, DDoS protection, daily automatic backups and 24/7 support, with no setup fee and no contract. Billing is monthly by default, with three-month, six-month and yearly cycles available at a discount, and you can change plan or cancel at any time.
How Many Slots & How Much RAM Does a RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server Need?
Choose a slot for every player who will be online at the same time; Jagex's dedicated server supports up to six. Jagex's guide asks for 2GB of RAM plus 1GB per player, so 4GB for two players, 6GB for four and 8GB for a full world of six. The 10GB included with every server covers every plan with room to spare. If the live memory graph in your control panel shows your world running close to its limit, add more RAM, up to 32GB, without losing anything.
