To survive in the Middle Ages, you just have to struggle. This means you must mine resources, hunt wildlife, build structures, and craft armor and weapons to protect yourself. In Reign of Kings, you're allowed to gather resources and build a diversity of items that are required to create an extensive and authoritative kingdom. Inspiration from Rust & Chivalry was the primary reason for the games' development.
Besides the standard resources, you could compete for the Ancient Throne which is in a throne room that's situated at the other side of the island. Any player that is not among the King's Guild is levied on the resources that are collected. The developed melee combat system also adds a coarse and primeval feeling to Reign of Kings as it allows players to become intensely immersed in a realistic and middle-aged survival experience.
The world we live in is no doubt designed to arouse competition and power struggles. The locations of the resources are spread strategically all through the game, creating envy and inequity. The players have the ability to instigate war, or even capture other players to get what they want. Each player also has the power to fix the kingdom's fate or decide to forego the task of presiding over the affairs of the kingdom, thereby roaming the land as a free man.
Players can be restrained and captured by their mates. Once shackled, the imprisoned player remains at the mercy of the person who caught him except a sharp stone is hidden in their orifice. This could be used to attempt an escape. There are many ways to deal with prisoners. They include throwing them into stocks for humiliation, imprisoning them in a cell or cage for later punishment, execution by decapitation in the guillotine or hanging by the neck in the scaffolds. To stay alive, you have to mine and save resources to craft workstations, armor, weapons, and items as well as construct a shelter for your protection. Other things to do include constructing a station for production & refining of higher tier items (for the crafting of stations) and the erection of collection stations for the passive creation of food and water and food passively.
