Quick answer

Enshrouded 1.0 was released on Thursday 15 October 2026 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, ending Early Access. Keen Games' launch-time map put the release at 16:00 UK time (17:00 CEST, 11:00 EDT, 08:00 PDT), and Keen's "Enshrouded 1.0 is LIVE!" post followed on Steam at 16:06. Early Access owners on PC don't pay again, old saves carry over, there's no crossplay yet, and Xbox Series X|S follows in spring 2027.

Checked against Keen Games' Steam announcements (including its launch post and the hotfix 1.0.0.1 notes), its 1.0 press releases and help centre, and the PlayStation Store, 16 October 2026.

When was Enshrouded 1.0 released?

Enshrouded 1.0 was released on Thursday 15 October 2026. Keen Games announced the date on 25 June 2026, and the release ended an Early Access that started on Steam on 24 January 2024. Keen says more than 5.5 million players took part in Early Access, across 8 major updates, 14 patches and 42 hotfixes.

1.0 is the full release, game version 1.0.0.0. Keen calls it the end of the current story, "for now": it has promised free and paid content for years to come.

What time did Enshrouded 1.0 launch?

Keen posted a launch-time map on Steam on 13 October, in its Enshrouded Launch FAQ. These are the times it showed:

Los Angeles (PDT) 08:00 Thursday 15 October
New York (EDT) 11:00 Thursday 15 October
São Paulo (BRT) 12:00 Thursday 15 October
London (BST) 16:00 Thursday 15 October
Berlin (CEST) 17:00 Thursday 15 October
New Delhi (IST) 20:30 Thursday 15 October
Beijing (CST) 23:00 Thursday 15 October
Tokyo (JST) 00:00 Friday 16 October

On launch day, Keen's "Enshrouded 1.0 is LIVE!" post went up on Steam at 16:06 UK time, six minutes after the time on the map.

PC and PS5 shared the launch: Keen's press release had both versions releasing together, and the PlayStation Store lists 15 October 2026 as the release date.

Which platforms get Enshrouded 1.0?

  • PC on Steam. Co-op for up to 16 players, on a dedicated server or in a game hosted by a player.
  • PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro. This is Enshrouded's console debut. The PlayStation Store lists online co-op for up to 8 players, which needs PlayStation Plus. Keen says PS5 runs at 60 fps in Performance Mode or 30 fps in Quality Mode, and PS5 Pro gets a 60 fps mode that uses PSSR 2.0, plus haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on both.
  • Xbox Series X|S: not yet. In its June release-date announcement, Keen said the Xbox version needed more time and is planned for spring 2027.

No crossplay at launch. Keen's Launch FAQ said Enshrouded wouldn't be cross-platform at release. Keen is working on cross-platform play but has no estimate yet, so PC and PS5 players can't share a world for now.

Do Early Access owners have to buy Enshrouded again?

No. Keen's Launch FAQ is clear: if you own the Early Access version on PC, you don't need to buy Enshrouded again. 1.0 came as an update to the game you already have.

For new players, Keen's launch press release lists the 1.0 price as €39.99 / $39.99 on Steam and PS5, with a 10% launch discount for the first 14 days. Early Access players also get three exclusive decorative props for their base (a statue, a tome and a signal light), claimed with Redeem Add-Ons in the escape menu.

Will your Early Access saves work in 1.0?

Yes. Keen says Early Access saves keep working in 1.0, but they're converted to a new, smaller save format. From the 1.0 changelog:

  • When 1.0 finds a save made with version 0.8 or earlier, it backs the save up first, then migrates it to the new format.
  • Skill trees are reset the first time you load an existing save in 1.0. Your skill points come back, so spend them again before you head out. Our guide to Enshrouded classes and skill trees helps you plan a new build.
  • Custom key bindings are reset to the defaults because of new features, so check your controls.
  • The character and world menus now have separate tabs for local saves and Steam Cloud saves. If a world seems to be missing, check the other tab.
  • Local saves now live in the Saved Games folder of your Windows user, under keen games, Enshrouded, default.

Keen also changed a lot of the early game, so it "strongly encourages" you to start a fresh world if you're up for it. Your old world is still there if you'd rather carry on.

What's new in Enshrouded 1.0?

Keen published the full 1.0 changelog on 14 October, a day before release, in its release trailer and changelog post on Steam. The highlights:

  • The whole map is open. A new biome, Cinder's Cradle, lies to the north past Veilwater Basin: lava wastes below and floating islands above, with 12 new Shroud Roots. New areas also push Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes out to the edges of the world.
  • Two new Hollow Halls, one in Albaneve Summits and one in Veilwater Basin, plus doors in older biomes that finally open.
  • The story ends, for now. The main quest wraps up the mystery of the Ancients and the Shroud, with a final boss high in the sky.
  • Higher caps. Player level goes up to 50 and gear to level 55. A new Flame level raises the limit to 15 Flame Altars, and a new survivor joins your base with Ancient recipes.
  • Sparkworks, a logic system for builders: wire levers, pressure plates and other inputs to doors, traps and enemy spawns, then share what you make through Adventure Sharing.
  • Voiced lore. Lore notes, letters and books, plus the main crafting and quest survivors, are voiced in English, German and Mandarin Chinese.
  • Combat. Mages get 9 new spell types, eternal versions of every spell and summoned skeletons, and ranged aiming has new aim-assist settings.
  • Looks and performance. A new "brick renderer" keeps distant terrain and buildings detailed, every biome gets its own lighting and atmosphere, HDR is supported, and Keen says the game needs less memory.
  • Quality of life. Hold the interact button to collect scattered loot nearby (or set it to automatic), fast-travel while sleeping in a bed, pick classic or more realistic character proportions, and a reworked fishing progression.

On launch day, Keen posted its 1.0 highlights video in the "Enshrouded 1.0 is LIVE!" post on Steam.

Hotfix 1.0.0.1 followed the same evening. Keen's hotfix notes list fixes for several random crashes (including crashes caused by certain PC peripherals) and for indoor brightness problems with dynamic lighting, and the Fire Wisp scroll now has a fixed level of 27 instead of its damage scaling with your level. The notes don't mention dedicated servers. Keen also gave two workarounds until the next fix: if reverb or the volume during voiced lore sounds wrong, keep the master volume slider at 100% and turn the sound down in Windows instead; if your world's edit button does nothing, subscribe to anything in Adventure Sharing and try again.

What does 1.0 mean for your Enshrouded server?

Players and their server need the same game version: Keen's server list marks a server on another version with a version mismatch. So now that 1.0 is out, players on 1.0 need a server on the 1.0 build. These four steps get you there without risking your world.

Checklist: back up the savegame folder and config, update the server to 1.0, check enshrouded_server.json, then start and join
The same order works for every big Enshrouded update: backup first, then update, then check.

Step 1: Back up your world

Stop the server and copy its savegame folder and your enshrouded_server.json (it holds your passwords and settings). Keen's own save guide recommends copying all save files before you change anything. Keen's 1.0 notes say the game backs up an old save before converting it, but keep your own copy until you're happy with the result.

On a GTX server, take a fresh backup before you update (how to back up your game server) and download a copy with the Backup Manager. Remember that a server backup holds the world, not the characters: each player's character is saved on their own PC.

Step 2: Update the server to 1.0

The dedicated server is a separate Steam tool with its own updates, so update it to the 1.0 build before your players join. On your own PC, update the Enshrouded Dedicated Server in the Tools section of your Steam library. On GTX, press STOP, then Steam Update, wait for it to finish and press START. Do the same after a hotfix whenever the server list shows a version mismatch.

Steam Update, Configuration Files, Log Viewer and Backup Manager sit together in the GTX game panel.

Step 3: Check enshrouded_server.json

Keen's help centre lists no new settings you must add for 1.0 (checked again on 16 October, after launch). Its gameplay settings guide does warn that older config files are sometimes updated incorrectly. If the server won't start or your settings look wrong, delete the file so the server writes a fresh one, then put your saved passwords and settings back.

Three 1.0 changes touch server settings:

  • The setting for how many enemies spawn in each encounter gets a new Automatic option that scales enemies to the party nearby.
  • The values behind the enemy damage slider in the difficulty settings were reworked to match the real damage increase.
  • Roles work as before on dedicated servers: the password a player joins with still decides their user group. The new in-game promote and demote option is for games hosted by a player. Our guide to setting Enshrouded server passwords shows the userGroups section.

Step 4: Start the server and join

Start the server and join from Play, Join. If it isn't in the list, add its address to your Steam favourites. Our guide to connecting to your Enshrouded server shows both ways. Tell your players about the skill tree reset before they log in.

Two things don't change with 1.0: the dedicated server still runs on Windows only (Keen says Linux support is planned for later), and Keen's server tool on Steam is for PC players, since there's no crossplay with PS5 yet. PS5 groups can rent an Enshrouded PS5 server from us instead, with the same plans and prices as PC.

Enshrouded 1.0 FAQ

Is Enshrouded coming to Xbox?

Yes, but not yet: Xbox wasn't part of the 15 October launch. Keen said in June 2026 that the Xbox Series X|S version needs more time and is planned for spring 2027. For now, Enshrouded 1.0 is on PC (Steam), PS5 and PS5 Pro.

Is Enshrouded 1.0 free if I own the Early Access version?

Yes. Keen says PC players who own the Early Access version don't need to buy the game again: 1.0 is an update to the copy you already have. Early Access owners also get three exclusive decorative props.

Is Enshrouded crossplay between PC and PS5?

Not yet. Keen's Launch FAQ says it is working on cross-platform play but has no estimate for when it arrives. Until then, PC players play with PC players and PS5 players with PS5 players.

Can I keep my Early Access world in Enshrouded 1.0?

Yes. 1.0 backs up saves from version 0.8 or earlier and converts them to the new format. Your skill tree is reset the first time you load, so spend your points again. Keen suggests a fresh start because the early game has changed a lot, but it's your choice.

Do I need to update my Enshrouded dedicated server for 1.0?

Yes. Players on 1.0 need a server on the 1.0 build, and a server on another version shows a version mismatch. The 1.0 server build has been on Steam since launch day. Back up the world first, then update the server through Steam or with Steam Update in the GTX game panel.

How many players can play Enshrouded 1.0 together?

Up to 16 on PC, according to Keen, and up to 8 online on PS5 with PlayStation Plus, as the PlayStation Store lists. On PC, a dedicated server takes 1 to 16 player slots, set with slotCount in enshrouded_server.json.

We've hosted game servers since 2008. If your group wants a 1.0 world that stays online when you log off, our Enshrouded server hosting gets you a server with role passwords, daily backups and 24/7 support. For setup, settings, roles and backups in depth, read our Enshrouded dedicated server guide.
