Quick answer

The Pal Gear Workbench unlocks at level 6 and makes saddles and other gear for your Pals. The Medieval Medicine Workbench unlocks at level 12 and needs no power, the Electric Medicine Workbench at level 43 needs electricity, and the Advanced Medicine Workbench at level 61 also needs electricity. All three medicine benches are run by Pals with Medicine Production suitability. The full list of workbenches, levels, costs and what each one crafts is below.

Last updated 9 October 2026. Checked against Palworld 1.0.5 (15 September 2026): the official patch notes and the game's data files. Unlock levels and costs are the data-file values; the patch notes up to 1.0.5 do not change any station in this guide. Older recipe amounts that appeared here before were from early access and have been removed.

Every Palworld workbench: unlock level, power and cost

In the game data, "unlock level" is the technology level at which the station becomes available. "Power" is whether the building needs electricity.

Two corrections to what you may have read elsewhere: the High-Quality Workbench and the Weapon Workbench do not need electricity in the game data (the assembly lines do), and the Ancient Workbench is a Pal-only station, so you do not craft there yourself.

Pal Gear Workbench

The Pal Gear Workbench unlocks at level 6, needs no power and costs 10 Paldium Fragment, 30 Wood, 2 Cloth. The data describes it as a Primitive Workbench "for producing Pal tools": make a saddle to ride Pals, or a gun for Pals to use. The data lists plenty of Pal Gear items, for example the Melpaca Saddle, Herbil's Harness and Lifmunk's Submachine Gun.

One 1.0 change worth knowing: for some Pals, such as glider-enhancing Pals and Pals that follow up on your attacks, crafting Pal Gear is no longer required. You can use their Partner Skill the moment you catch them (1.0 patch notes).

Medieval Medicine Workbench vs Electric Medicine Workbench

Medicine has its own line of benches, separate from the item workbenches. All of them are operated by a Pal with Medicine Production suitability.

BenchUnlock levelNeeds power?Build costWhat the data says
Medieval Medicine Workbench 12 No 30 Wood, 5 Nail, 10 Paldium Fragment A facility for making Pal medicine. It can only produce simple medicines.
Electric Medicine Workbench 43 Yes (electric) 40 Refined Ingot, 10 Circuit Board, 10 Carbon Fiber Requires electricity, but can produce high quality medicine.
Advanced Medicine Workbench 61 Yes (electric) 50 Hexolite, 50 Plasteel, 30 Circuit Board With advanced technology it can also create unknown medicines.

So the upgrade path is: Medieval at level 12 (no power, simple medicines), Electric at level 43 (power, higher quality), Advanced at level 61. The data does not say which individual medicine is made at which bench, so check the bench's recipe list in game. These are the medicine items in the data and what they do:

Low Grade Medical Supplies Treats Sick, Sprain and Overfull. Does not heal Health.
Medical Supplies Treats Ulcer and Fracture. Does not heal.
High Grade Medical Supplies Treats Weakened and Depressed. Does not heal.
Low Quality Recovery Meds Heals wounds over time, restores some Health.
Recovery Meds Heals wounds over time, restores a decent amount of Health.
High Quality Recovery Meds Heals wounds over time, restores a lot of Health.
Advanced Recovery Meds Heals wounds over time, rapidly restores HP.
Revival Potion Revives a Pal that has been injured and is unable to move.

The recipes for Advanced Recovery Meds and the Revival Potion both unlock at level 61, the same level as the Advanced Medicine Workbench.

Which Pals run the medicine benches

Medicine Production suitability, highest levels in the data: Silvance (8), Bellanoir Libero (7), Lyleen Noct (7), Dandilord (6), Mycora (6), Selyne (6), Wistella (6). Lower levels: Felbat (3), Katress (3), Katress Ignis (3), Lovander (3), Lullu (3), Majex (3), Prunelia (3), Sibelyx (3), Sibelyx Primo (3), Vaelet (3), Beegarde (2), Bristla (2), Cinnamoth (2), Dogen (2), Prixter (2), Prixter Lux (2), Robinquill Terra (2), Tarantriss (2).

Research at the Pal Labor Research Lab speeds medicine work up. The data has six levels of Medicine Production Task research, and Pharmaceutical Cost-Saving Technique research that cuts the materials used. The Clinic (level 24) and Ancient Clinic (level 73) are separate base facilities: a Pal with Medicine Production suitability assigned to them reduces SAN depletion and helps prevent illness (1.0 patch notes).

What each workbench crafts

Many weapons and armour sets have schematics in the data: items that "unlock recipe for" the gear when they are in your inventory. The item descriptions in the data say which station each item or schematic is crafted at. Examples per station:

Primitive Workbench 1 Arrow, Advanced Arrow, Fire Arrow, Poison Arrow, Reinforced Arrow, Cloth, Wooden Board
High-Quality Workbench 11 Metal Armor, Metal Helm, Pelt Armor, Crossbow, Life Pendant, Defense Pendant, High Quality Cloth
Weapon Workbench 20 Sword, Handgun, Musket, Makeshift Assault Rifle, Makeshift Shotgun, Handgun Ammo, Rifle Ammo, Shotgun Shell, Coarse Ammo
Production Assembly Line 29 Refined Metal Armor, Refined Metal Helm, Hallowed Plate Mail, Polymer, Carbon Fiber, Cryogenic Coolant, Corrosive Solvent
Weapon Assembly Line 32 Assault Rifle, SMG, Compound Bow, Double-Barreled Shotgun, Old Revolver, Metal Bat, Assault Rifle Ammo
Production Assembly Line II 42 Pal Metal Armor, Hexolite Armor, Plasteel Armor, Computer, Bio Battery, Thermal Core, High Quality Wooden Board
Weapon Assembly Line II 47 Katana, Gatling Gun, Rocket Launcher, Flamethrower, Laser Rifle, Plasma Cannon, Rocket Ammo, Flamethrower Fuel
Advanced Workshop 62 AI Core
Advanced Weapon Assembly Line 63 Charge Rifle, Energy Shotgun, Overheat Rifle, Charge Rifle Ammo
Ancient Workbench 67 Ancient Armor, Laser Sword, Plasma Rifle, Combat SMG, Plasma Rifle Ammo

That is a sample, not the whole list. I have left ingredient counts out on purpose: the 1.0 patch notes say the technology tree and crafting materials were reworked, and the game's own recipe screen is the one source that is always right for your version.

Furnaces, crusher, mill and cooking pot

The other base crafting stations that people mix up with workbenches:

StationUnlock levelBuild costWhat it does
Crusher 8 50 Wood, 20 Stone, 10 Paldium Fragment Breaks Stone and Wood down into other materials. Needs a Pal with Watering to spin the turbine.
Primitive Furnace 10 20 Wood, 40 Stone, 3 Flame Organ Refines ingots. Needs a Fire Pal to light a flame.
Mill 15 10 Wooden Board, 40 Stone, 10 Ingot Mills Wheat into Flour. Needs a Pal with Watering.
Cooking Pot 17 5 Wooden Board, 15 Ingot, 3 Flame Organ Needed for cooking. Needs a Fire Pal to light it.

The Crusher and Mill both need a Pal with Watering, and the furnace and cooking pot need a Fire Pal. It helps to have one Pal of each type at the base. Our Pals list shows each Pal's work suitability.

Who works at the workbenches?

The item workbenches and assembly lines "require Pals that can work with their hands", which is the Handiwork suitability. Highest Handiwork levels in the data: Solenne (8), Selyne (7), Anubis (6), Bellanoir Libero (6), Dandilord (6), Flaracle (6), Lapure (6), Renjishi (6), Sekhmet (6), Silvance (6), Splatterina (6), Venusa (6), Wistella (6). The patch notes also say Ribbuny's partner skill raises the Handiwork level of all other base Pals by +1 while it is at your base (it does not stack).
